In many cases euthanasia without consent would be more humane than any alternative. Why, for example, should a patient be awakened from anaesthesia, if during an operation an incurable condition had been revealed, which would shortly cause suffering and death? Why must a child be forced to live and to suffer, if his illness leaves him with no hope of healing and even of relief? The same is true also for suffering patients in a state of mental disorder. Revision of the attitude towards euthanasia would fundamentally improve the quality of human life
