The cheap local ones can charge as little as $40 - $60, but never bother showing these in a major market, or a casting agent, they will get you no where. The really good ones, shooting for Theatre and Film, (which will include several differnt poses) you are looking at starting in the hundreds , possibly into the thousands, there is a reason those big name actors look so good in the file photo releases from the studios.

I don't think there's anything like a "universal" rate for this kind of thing. It depends on a hundred different factors, such as:

1) How many exposures will the photographer shoot?
2) Indoors (studio lighting) or outdoors?
3) Is professionally applied makeup included?
4) Can the actor bring/use several changes of clothes?
5) Who keeps the negatives (or, in the digital age, does the actor get a CD with all images/exposures on it)? This is CRITICALLY IMPORANT to negotiate in advance!!! If you don't arrange to keep negs or CD, you have to keep coming back to the photographer every time you want to print something new, which means more $$$ out of your pocket.
6) Is retouching of selected images included?
7) Will the photographer provide a clean 8x10 copy of at least one image? This is important because the places who do mass printing of actor headshots generally work from a "master print."

Depending on what city you're in, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $1,000+ for a good photo shoot. The low-end of that range would probably be for someone who has somewhat less experience.

When you're "shopping" for a headshot photographer, you should definitely do the following:

1) get referrals from actors you know who have headshots you like; and

2) be sure to ask to see the photographers portfolio! any self-respecting photographer should have no problem showing you representative samples of his/her work. you want to work with a photographer who has a history of producing work that YOU find interesting/attractive/compelling.

Good luck!

usually 200 or more. it can be very expensive and i would do that as a last resort. work on becoming good at at acting first and even getting a actors head shot u would need an agent. their is no point. if u want one so badly go get a regular picture done. its way easier

I got some good ones for about £25, but that was a while back (showing my age now), and I am not a big name actor.

$100+ For a set. That doesn't include makeup or on location.

I had my friend do my headshots. She loves photography and I needed pics.

It depends on which market you're in. In New York City the price can go from $70.00, as high as, $800.00-900.00, for a top head-shot photorapher. You still have to have the photos reproduced and printed.
