This is just an ancient, Middle Eastern myth that attempted to explain to a more primitive peoples why evil exists in the world.

Modern peoples and their contemporary theories are far beyond this basic explanation.

no voice of god or devil(serpent)
no Adam & Eve
no Tree of Knowledge
no forbidden fruit
no Garden of Eden
no angels

As a matter-of-fact, even the sory is not original, being in many writings that predate Genesis. This is just a rudimentary explanation of why bad things happen.

I assume you are refering to Adam & Eve in which case the fruit is a metaphor for phenomenal knowledge. Thus man began to think for himself in ways that analysed, inquired and critiqued rather than take for granted what had been Gods propaganda line so to speak!

You can't blame them for trying but it is another question altogether whether the independent mind thing is working out. These days the answer seems to be no!

Because they had the mindset of little kids.

If I could draw... I would so draw this...

"Now, don't you kids eat that fruit, ok?" Said God. Adam and Eve nodded as they looked at the tree.

Five seconds later...

"Goddam! I told you not to eat the damn fruit!" Exclaimed God as He saw them eating it. "Why?"

"Cuz you told us not to." Said Eve with a mouthful.

Perhaps a better question would be, "Why was the fruit there in the first place?"

Eve kept looking at it and let her eyes pull her into a desire she knew was wrong, chomp chomp, and here we are, paying for it.
