My baby boy is 9 and a half months old and ever since he was about 7 months old, he refuses to eat any jarred baby food. I am concerned because he only likes cheerios and his formula.. Any suggestions as to what I can give him to eat?? I feel like he is not getting enough to eat Please help!!!!

You can always try crackers, mash potatoes, oatmeal, etc. You can even try giving him mash potatoes with alittle sugar in them if he doesn't like them plain. You can also try blending the food yourself. Anything you eat can go in a blender to make it easier for him to eat and he will still get his nutrition. He is getting enough to eat right now but it is time to start trying him on solid foods. God Bless!!

I have a 9 month old girl and she refuses to eat baby food too. I give her infant rice cereal and infant oatmeal. She also usually eats everything I do, like chicken, fish, beef, veggies and fruit. I just tear everything up into very small pieces. Her favorite is turkey meat loaf and asparagus. I haven't tried cherrios yet, I'll have to try it. If he is not getting enough to eat he would be crying and waking a lot during the night.

As long as hes taking the formula he is fine. I would suggest not getting discouraged. Just continue to try every day a few times a day to sit down and feed him jarred food. No need to be concerned! Good luck! :o)

My daughter was the same way, She wouldn't it baby food in the jar but if I got the baby food in the little plastic things stage 1 she would eat it. She started off with squash, sweet patotes, peach cobbler, and carrots, I also mix her cereal with her formula and then mix a little fruit with it and she loves it now. Something else you child might not be ready for baby food, they will let you know or he might want table food. My daughter can't eat the table food yet she chokes on it. Good luck

I had the same problem with my son...He took a great dislike to baby food..I was using both Gerber and Beach nut and I tried all flavors, all stages, etc...Finally I gave up and gave him table food..Like semi runny mashed potatoes and very finely chopped pieces of chicken( I made them all most mush) and he thrived on things like that, plus his formula and he still had baby cereal and teething cookies..My son is now 14 years old...and is still a picky eater, but healthy none the less.......

Try canned sweet potatoes with some brown sugar on it and let him feed himself, also try shredded cheese and meats. My daughter is nine months also and she eats jarred baby food now and then but prefers fingerfoods. Just keep on offering the jar food and if he dosent eat it try different finger foods that are shredded.

Forget the baby food in jars! You can mash up most veggies and give them to him - just make sure you go easy on the salt! He can eat mashed potatoes as well - my son loved them the best! (and still does even though he's 11!)

Baby food can be kind of gross and most babies by 12 months are totally off the baby food. Perhaps you should skip the baby food and go straight to table foods. Talk to your pediatrician or a nurse first. Just call the office and discuss it with them they won't mind helping.

2 of my kids HATED baby food. Really, have you ever tried the stuff? For the most part, it's awful! Let him eat off of your plate. Give him little pieces of soft foods - bananas, pasta, soft veggies, strawberries, whatever you eat at any meal that he can mash with his gums. Btw, cheerios aren't the worst thing that he could eat. :)

My baby (now 8 years old) did that too.
She pretty much realized that she was the only one eating baby food and so started refusing it.
We cut up our own food into really small bites and she did great with that.
