Is that the one with the talking thrush where professor Wallace finds a potion in the realm of Chlamydia that he steals from the evil Venereal.When he says the magic words stapphylococcus Grommet comes back to life. Unfortunately he has hard pad and distemper and is 'put to sleep' never to awaken. Harry is so terrified he vows never to use his 'wand' again!

OK, it's HP and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth book in a seven book series. The only one who dies is Cedirc Diggory. And that one lady who went missing early on.
