It depends on what make you buy, as I had quite a few conflicting stories told to me a few weeks ago. In the end I bought a Bosch fridge / freezer. When I checked the instruction book, I found that I only had to wait 30 mins before switching the power on, then I could put all my goodies straight in!

I don't know if half the folks who have answered know how to read. Get yourself a fridge thermometer and as soon as it's down to about 8degrees centigrade it will be alright, should only take a couple of hours.

leave it unpluged for 24 hours to let the gasses settle

because of the fact all the smells intertwine whilst they cook dinner and scent stable. it quite is not not user-friendly to make nutrition scent stable. it quite is greater sturdy to make nutrition style stable. my buddies are finished chinese language i've got faith doubt they got here from united states of america of america yet their house is an entire pig sty. theirs crap they deliver residing house from paintings throughout their front backyard and back backyard and it quite is all broken issues like tables, refrigerator, washing machines,etc.. yet now and returned whilst they are cooking it smells quite stable. yet i surprisingly doubt it tastes that stable. why? in simple terms walk infront of their door step and you will understand why theirs craps everywhere alongside with lifeless flowers/animals decaying like fish. Im advantageous they don't keep at a genuine food market the two however the community china city and everybody in my state knows the china city isn;t very stable for groceries because it quite is been typical to hold rats and it quite is not even that tasty. that being suggested do not permit the smells fool you.

I would say 24hours after moving to let the liquids inside settle, turn it on and let it freeze for 6 hours, then it should be ok.
