well "technically" it is illegal but I say use it. the same thing happens when you live near a hotel

If you get the neighbor's permission - no problem. If you are a good neighbor you should suggest for them to set up encription on their wireless router. They probably don't know that others can get on their network.

There's a term for this... I forget what it is... something like wireless cowboy.

Anyways, one of the biggest advocates of wireless cowboying around just got arrested and jailed.

(Because it's illegal)

Also remember that it works both ways... you might log onto their bandwidth... but your computer might end up full of horse p0rn.

well, its legal, considering the fact that they are not even smart enough to put a password on it. Basically, if some one doesn't protect their wireless with a password it is intened for anyone close to use it.

Well, if he's not modifying the default settings and enabling security, he's in effect allowing anyone to use his service. It's only wrong if you hack into a secured signal.

Its stealing, why don't you tell him/her the wireless is not secure. Offer to pay part of his internet fee if allowed to use it.

Why not ? How would they know? It's not your fault they're in your house and if worse comes to worse, play dumb..I don't think they can really tell..

Without permission, it would be treated legally as stealing. So just get permission, no biggee...
