You have to convert the % into a decimal.

100% = 1.0
90% = .90
50% = .50
10% = .10
1% = .01

Therefore 8.25% converts to 0.0825.

To calculate the tax, you mulitply the items cost x the tax rate.

Item's Cost = $250
Tax Rate = .0825

$250 x .0825 = 20.625

Since this is money, you round the cents up to make that tax $20.63.

Add the tax to the items cost to find the total price:

Item's cost = 250
Tax = 20.63

Total Item Price = 270.63

Hope that helps!

First, convert the 8.25% into a decimal number.
Do this by dividing 8.25 by 100 in a calculator. Take that number (which is just 8.25% in decimal form- it should be 0.0825) and multiply it by 250. That's the tax. Add the tax to the original amount and that's your total.

If you have a calculator, you can multiply the item price ($250) by the tax rate. 8.25 % is equal to .0825. So multiplying 250 x .0825 will give you the amount of tax. Also, if you multiply the price $250 by 1.0825, you will get the total, so you don't have to add in the tax.

Take 250 and multiply it by .0825. This will give you the amount of tax on the 250 dollars. The number .085 represents how much tax there is on your 250. To get a grand totall (thats the next ? usually) add the amount of tax to the originall 250.By the way the answer is $21.25

You multiply 250 by 0.0825, if you have a calculator. If you're in a store and need to estimate roughly, it's just a little bit less than 10%. So for $250, the tax is a bit less than $25.

you simply convert the number into decimal form so there is only one number in front of the decimal. Then you multiply the decimal form to 8.25%. That will give you your answer

$250 ~ 2.50

2.50
x 8.25
--------------
20.625

therefore the tax on $250 is $20.625

You multiply 250 by .0825, unless you have a percent button on a calculator then you multiply EXACTLY what your problem says.
