I'm not sure what you mean by "help" but it is a nice gesture.
Always treat all ladies in real life like ladies. regardless of who they are or what they do for a living.

First, please don't assume that we all like be referred to as "ladies". Many women are offended by this word because it refers to being "a kept woman" by a man of financial means or that she is a "Lady of the Night"(prostitute)! The best way to help women is to just be yourself & be a good person. I am a woman & when I get to a door before someone else (male or female), I will always hold it open for them. I have never known a man to refuse an opened door from a woman (especially when he has his arms full of groceries) & I glady accept & appreciate it when another human does this for me. Women really just want to be acknowledged for being themselves & since we are each individual & unique, there is NO WAY to assume what will make us happy! It is trial by error & once you get to know another person (female or male), you will have a better understanding of what makes them happy or unhappy! I would have to say that the big no-no is to compare a woman to another woman or to constantly talk about another woman when you are with one! We females tend to want to be to center of attention when we are in the company of men, that IS why most of us hang around them! Don't ever let any woman keep you from doing what you need to do for yourself. She may complain, but she'll get over it. Encourage her to do the same thing for herself & not always want to take all of a man's time. Remember...if you don't give it to her, she can't have it. Have a life & look at women as a part of life & not ALL of life.

Be understanding with women and don't abuse them.
