Many would say that GWB was just concerned with protecting our country from terrorist. There are those who believe that Iraq was involved in terrorism and had WMD's (weapons of mass destruction) and was prepared to use them to attack U.S soil.
After all the Iraqi's did attack the twin towers and the pentagon killing ~3k American people. And we know that Sadam had gassed his own people in the 90's killing thousands of his own people. If he could kill his own he certainly would kill us!
After all he did have a million man army!!!
What there was no Iraqi's involved in the attack 9/11? They were 80% Saudi Arabian.... the rest were a mix of Lebanese and Syrian and the leader was and is a very influential Saudi who was trained in the eighties by US military? There were no Iraqi's involved and no one from Afghanistan? How could this be? I did not see this on Fox news or even NBC, CBS or ABC... This must not be true. We will find WMD in Iraq right?
OK, some say we went to war for OIL? GWB would never put our military in harms way, he would never send your father, brother, mother, sister, uncle, aunt, best buddy to a war with a million man army for oil. What the Iraqi did not even fight?
They helped us tear down Saddams government but did not want us to stay and help them have a government like ours?
They want us to leave after our men and women fought to free them? We will let women vote, teach them about this Bud is for you and put a McDonalds on every street corner... they will be better because we will help! RIGHT?
Hey we can even teach them to be CHRISTIAN.... They may get into heaven if they follow us!
And we can help sell the oil for them so they will live better and have French fries. Oil will be less expensive for the rest of the world because we will bring peace to the middle east.... they will know that GWB will take care of them.... JUST LIKE HE TAKES CARE OF HIS OWN COUNTRY.
I pray for our soldiers to come home safe, your Dad, your brother, your Mom, your sister and every American that has been put in harms way. Thank you for protecting us, be safe and come home where you belong.
mathewbj you hit it dead on the head... GWB has no idea of how to resolve the issues in this country so the easy way out was to pick a fight with a country did not really have any true power but did have oil... That way he at least keeps his Dad happy with the Saudi's and makes some nice retirment for some very rich people. Just look at our economy and look at the profits made by oil companies!

You obviously are either not aware of the facts or chose to ignore them. You sound like a new born liberal.
We had these problems before Iraq. This just didn't start in2001. Are you telling all your liberal programs suck? This President has dedicated more funds than we've seen in years. Personally I'd like to see these programs either begin to run efficiently or do away with them, so thank your lucky stars you have George Bush as President and not me.
We didn't have free medical insurance before, so what's different. Just because you want a socialist government, it doesn't mean I do. There are plenty of socialist countries you can immigrate to.
People go into debt when they over spend.......How can the president control that?
The schools sucked long before this president came to power, and the no child left behind was implemented to begin correcting that.
The long and the short of it is this. Throwing money at a problem will most always never solve the problem, it will only grow.

To best his daddy.
For those who still don't get it, Iraq did not initiate, plan, or carry out 9/11. Instead, 9/11 was the excuse used by the Bush administration to justify "pre-emptive" war, which is a fancy way of saying he wanted to invade Iraq without legitimate provocation. Whether it was for oil, anger and frustration, a national reason, or personal gain, we do not know. What we do know is that the justifications given to the American people at the time were false and at best unsubstatiated and at worst out right lies.
Added Later:
Not supporting the Bush administration or believing in the reasons for the war in Iraq are entirely different than not supporting the troops who are willing to defend our country with their lives. There is no way to adequately express appreciation and gratitude for that. The problem is the politicians who so easily use those lives not for true national defense but for a political agenda.
And to more specifically respond to the Q:
Domestic policy falls under the purview of Congress as well as the President whereas the President can act more unilaterally in international matters. As best I can see, Bush cares less about the living conditions of the average American than he does about acting out a personal agenda -- which is clearly more readily achievable where he is unimpeded by democrasy.

because he's unintelligent...he knew he was going to bomb Iraq before he even took office....he was doing what Daddy did and couldn't finish 10 years earlier. Let's realize though that Iraq had nothing to do with this...yes, Saddam was a jerk and he really was a pain in the butt, but why is it our business to solve everyone else's problems? Ok, so maybe we had to do something about the war on terror.....I'll give him that...but where did most of the hi-jackers of 9/11 come from? Saudi Arabia. Did we bomb them? Will we? Think not. Why? OIL. It all comes down to oil. Bush has his own agenda and doesn't give a rat's butt about what is good for the country. I still can't believe the people in this country that were dumb enough to re-elect him. So you made a stupid mistake voting for him the first time, but twice? You should all be ashamed of yourselves. "Don't blame me, I voted for Kerry"
"Can't wait for 2008"

Your question has a fatal flaw, it presumes that GWB gives a rat's a$$ about the American people. The office of president is the vehicle GWB is riding into the history books. Consider this, on 9/11 FEMA was there almost instantly when there was "no warning", but with days of advance notice federal assistance lagged horribly for the Katrina victims. Why? priorities and personal agendas.

OIL!!! my teacher knows a guy who works at the pentagon, and he told us this:
Although 9/11 sparked the actuall fighting, the U.S. has been fighting with the Middle East for oil for over a centery. We were always ready to actually enter countries that rip us off for oil, and the attacks on 9/11 gave Bush the "go". Apparently finding Osama will be a bonus.

He decided to fight The war in Iraq because we wanted him to get the people responsible for The 11th but now we are turning against him for going to war. The American people would have gone against him any way he went. That is why he is fighting there but really give the guy some credit i think he is at least trying to make it a better place except on gas.

His reason was that he wants to be called a Great president in the textbooks, and being a war president (he thought) would accomplish this.
Cheney's reason was so that Halliburton would get the oil (and, no doubt, give him a cut).
Rumsfeld wants permanent bases in the area.
Those were their reasons.
Although I agree that the money could have been better spent, what is worse than depriving this country is what we've done to them.

Am I the only one that remembers 9/11?
Am I the only one that remembers that Bush said we are going over there to weaken terrorism in the Middle East so as to immobilize it where it originates to weaken the chance of them being able to strike the U.S like they did on 9/11?
Am I the only one that realizes that we haven’t been attacked since 9/11?
Am I the only one that sees the terrorists in action every day in Iraq????
Helloooooo!!!!!!! You think that may be why we are there?????????
Am I the only one that sees that terrorism most definantly originates in the Middle East?
Am I the only one that sees that terrorists are all over the Middle East not just Afghanistan???
SO THEN I ASK YOU FINALLY, AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT SEES THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STABILIZING THE MIDDLE EAST SO AS TO NIP IT IN THE BUD BEFORE IT REACHES ALL TIME HIGHS HERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?
Every time Al-Qaeda claims an attack in Iraq they validate what Bush said "We have to crush the terrorists where they originate, so as to make American citizens safer."
And its not we shouldn’t be messing with them, its they shouldn’t have messed with us!!!!!!!!!!!!
And remember, it’s our soldiers putting they’re lives on the line everyday that you even have the right to whine about the war. Why don’t you thank Bush for another day that this war has brought you a step closer to long term safety and stability. Ensuring that you can go to Starbucks during your brunch everyday and whine about it for years and years to come without being interrupted by suicide bombers that claim to be peaceful right before press a button on there suicide vest.
