Actually, it is believed that the most plausible answer lies in a little but heavily guarded temple in a small town of Ethiopia.
The name of the place is AKSUM, look it up.

It's not literally in a box in washington like the end of the film "Raiders Of The Lost Ark". I dont think anyone really knows where it is and to clarify he's talking about the Ark of the Covenant not Noah's Ark.

It is said it was buried in 'Jeremiah's Grotto'. I've heard an account that it was buried in the side of the hill that is referred to as 'the skull' by Jeremiah in the hill where Jesus is said to have been cruxified a thousand or so years before His Cruxificion. This makes sense to me, it is said they found a trail of blood that ran down from a crack above and came to rest on the mercy seat of the Arc where traditionally the sacrificial lamb was sacrificed. After Jesus was speared in the side, His Blood would have pooled at the foot of the cross and when the earth trembled when He gave up the Ghost, this very well could have caused a crack in the foundation allowing His Blood to seep through and come to rest upon the mercy seat. It is said the local goverment refused any further excavation and heavily guard it because they do not want this to be revealed.

The Lost Ark is probably under the Dome of the Rock(a mosque built above the Temple of Herod, in Jerusalem).

The ark of the covenent is probably stashed beneath the mosque temple in Jeruselum, sight of King Solomons temple, hidden from the Babylonians or Assyrians that sacked the city way back when.

Noah's ark was on top of mount Ararat but it would have rotted away a LONG time ago. The Ark of the Covenant is hiding somewhere where you can't find it.

If you're referring to the original Ark of the Covenant, its believed to either be in an Ethiopian church having been removed to there by a Jewish sect some centuries ago; or it is also believed to be buried beneath the floor of Rosslyn chapel in Scotland, taken there by the Knights Templer back in the 1100's.

Which Ark?
The one with all the animals (it's in Turkey), or the one with all the rules (ask Harrison Ford)?
