Best defender: I would say Fabio Cannavaro from Italy, since he really did save Italy from what could lead to potential shots from the opponent.
Best striker: Miroslav Klose, especially when he scored the most goals in this tournament... though I felt Ronaldo's goals were more spectacular.
Best midfielder: Andrea Pirlo, for excellent assists, passes, etc., and simply helping Italy win the tournament!

My opinion:
defense: Lahm -- small, but quick and clever. controls the ball very well. and scored the first opening goal of wc 2006. But of course, everyone will say Fabio Cannarvaro, b/c I agree, he is good.
striker: Klose -- the golden boot winner for its 5 goals he scored. He's really good at tackling the opponent, and not afraid to jump over players and goalies to score his goals.
mid-field: Zidane -- no doubt it's Zizous. He is the Maestro, what else can I say.
