Growing up it was off and we ate dinner as a family.

Currently our schedules are so chaotic that most dinners are "fend for self" and a lot of that dinner time is spent in front of the TV and/or computer. When we do have a family meal, the TV is off.

I believe that dinnertime is for family. There is a closeness there that is not around at other times. So my TV would be off!!

There's no such thing as dinnertime in my house, in the traditional sense, so usually the TV is on. It is possible, I believe, to have a good family unit and still have the TV on. It inspires some pretty interesting conversations, actually!

It is usually on.

Background: i do not have cable, and i only have three small television sets. The one i watch almost exclusively is the one sitting beside Emily's monitor. As often as not i am watching television (either live or a tape) when i'm using Emily.....unless i am watching a movie or television episode *on* Emily. But i do eat all my meals sitting here.....with either Emily or the television - or both - on.

If you follow.

OFF.
Otherwise your mind associates TV & eating. Then, everytime you plant yourself in front of the TV, you get 'hungry'. Keep this up for too long & you get obese.
