Greetings,
If this is AP History, you will have to do more research than just here, but here are a few directions you should go.
1) English Settlers: The English Settlers, were mainly divided in their treatment of the native Americans. It all came down to locale of the settlement and the tribes they were near. Many a time, a colony's treatment of their native American neighbors was determined by the attitude of the Colonial Governor.
Look up Bacon's Rebellion. This will give you a great insight.
2) Spanish Settlers: Their motivation was of God, Greed, and Gold. Any Non-European was considered inferior. The Spanish were the advocates of slavery as they thought of the Indians as "primates".
Other Key Points:
1) Original English Settlers use Indentured Servants...not slaves. Slavery was introduced by the Dutch to the English when they brought a captured Spanish Slave ship to the colonies.
2) The Religious Points of the English were different than the Spanish. English were here for Religious freedom...A seperation from the Anglican Church. The Spanish were strict Catholics. Catholicism at this time in history was one of the most brutal in enforcement of its laws.
Try these points...Should help in your research.

I'm latin american. The Spanish conquest was extremely cruel, and more so than the English colonization. In spite of this, I don't think the English were morally superior or that they were nicer. You don't really see a lot of stories of english colonists marrying nice native girls, do you?
Oh well... The Spanish, undoubtedly, landed on a far richer territory, and they wanted all the gold and riches they could get.
For example, Hernan Cortez destroyed Tenochtitlan, the city of the Aztecs. Francisco Pizarro, in Peru, massacred hundreds of Incas, captured and eventually killed their emperor, and pillaged the villages.
Spaniards enslaved the indians. They came up with various forms of indented servitude for indians to be tied to the lands and work for the colonizers. Pretty bad stuff known as the encomienda system.
In one thing that both, spaniards and englanders, are even, is in their part in introducing diseases into the new world. The native americans had no immunity to illnesses that weren't really an issue in europe, so an unknown disease would kill decimate those populations.
I suggest that you do serious research to answer this question. If it's AP History, yahoo answers isn't the place to go to, and neither is wikipedia.

Sorry, you are going to have to read, because to answer this question, it would be long answer, and there just isn't enough space. My answer is Spanish Conquistadors. Focus your research on Columbus's voyage (in a college level history text, not kiddie books) and the settlement of Jamestown (or some other one like that) this will help. Good luck on your paper.

The question revolves around the form you view cruelty.listed under are some issues to think of approximately: The Spanish used enslaved natives to mine silver using mercury on the Bolivian mine of Potosi, ensuing in a just about a hundred% loss of life fee. The English seen the Natives as greater of a primitive human beings scuffling with the unfold of their Puritan values, so as that they sanctioned wars to eliminate them, mutually as the Spanish have been greater content to forcibly convert. lots of the Indians weren't killed by using the Spanish protection tension, yet by using affliction. in lots of circumstances with the English, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, had wars alongside with "King Phillip's warfare" to eliminate tribes from particular lands, mutually as the autumn of city states in Mesoamerica and South united states of america made the natives greater actual adjust to Spanish rule.
