Sorry, drunk is NO excuse for anything. That stuff doesn't come out of the blue or a bottle. It wouldn't have come out because he knew better than to say it sober, when you drink your inhibitions lower and then it will come out. Drunk or stoned is NO DEFENSE for that stupidity! You CHOOSE to get drunk or stoned so deal with your choices.

Obviously I should be held accountable for what I do and say while intoxicated but I will say and do things I wouldn't normally while sober. Alcohol is not truth serum as others claim.
For example, I do not miss any of my exes, I do not secretly harbor feelings for my friends, that wasn't the best sandwich I've ever had in my life, etc and so on. Reading the text messages I sent out the next day is painful!

You are right it happens to the best of them though. . And If you fiscally hurt some one while Drunk and Driving you should be prosecuted. It is against the Law.
But in this Country two things we are in-titled to, Are Freedom of Speech & Privacy, Mel Gibson got both taken from him. And this is going to be the Norm I am afraid in this country.

Yes, 100%!!! My best friend said something to me when she was drunk that really hurt me and the next day I pointed out to her what she said and she was drunk when she said it. She said, yeah I was drunk, that's why. I said that it wasn't an excuse I accept.
If someone says something drunk then they are thinking it and the alcohol just lowers their standards of how to behave, that's all. It doesn't make you think of things you wouldn't normally say or do.

I get slammed and do stupid things all the time. I always take responsibility the next day; it's not like a ghost possesses my body while I'm drunk and makes me do things.

UK: If a person gets willingly or recklessly drunk, as distinct from having his/her drinks spiked, they are legally responsible for anything that happens during their drunkenness. (It is a principal in law and I have no doubt that it is the same elsewhere - the drink can only be used in mitigation before sentencing).

I agree with you, it's no excuse. If a person thinks (or knows from past experience) that they say/do things they don't mean when they're drunk or high, they should be grown up enough to not drink or to know their limits.

I agree with you completely. My "friends" drank all the time, and every LiTtLe ThiNg they did while they were drunk was forgiven. Jerks, think they can get away with stupid things just because they're wasted. Anyways, just venting and letting off steam while I agree with you!
