very often i hear this expression but cannot undestand what it means.....answers welcome

Political correctness (also politically correct, P.C. or PC) is a term used to describe language that appears calculated to provide a minimum of offense, particularly to the racial, cultural, or other identity groups being described. The term is normally used in a pejorative or ironic sense. The concept typically refers to the English language, but is not exclusive to it. A text that conforms to the ideals of political correctness is said to be politically correct.

I think the first answer is correct, however in many cases it is just a way for bigots that can`t lose the habit to cover up their real feelings, a kind of language they can learn to avoid being castigated for their entrenched poor attitude towards all humans as equals. The rest of us don't need to learn it. Just focus on equality of opportunity for all

Its a term used to describe language used by Stalinist idealogues to stifle any debate they think they might lose.
it is also the language used by silly little people who have yet to open their eyes and think for themselves.

I do not know. I do not want to know. I will never be such.
It is a concept supported mainly by women, weaklings and wimpish men which they use as a club to batter anyone with strong opinions.

Instead of calling a "Spade a Spade". You would call them something more sensitive. Example: Sanitation Engineer but they are really garbage men.
