Go to a list of your state agencies and find forestry. In most states they will come out to your land and do an assessment of your marketable timber. Here in
virginia, this service is free. The amount of money its worth depends on many variables Age,
size,species,etc.
in most cases the state will put the timber up for bid for you, to get the best price.
I hope this helps you.

Shop around for a buyer. Your state department of agriculture may be able to furnish some names. What they are buying is "stumpage," i.e. the tree on the stump. Of course, making money (or even finding a willing buyer) depends on the value of what you have and whether there is a current market for it. Mature hardwoods are high value; poplar and yellow birch are trash.
Afterthought: do realize that when your land has been "cleared," you will be left with a rutted and torn-up patch of stumps.
