I heard of this woman who was married to a man, then decided to become a man and after she got a complete sex change, got only with men, so he became gay. So she went like this:
Straight Woman > Gay Man. Interesting, huh?

You are confusing gender identity with sexual orientation. It is transsexuals who get "sex changes". If someone is born with male anatomy but in their minds know they are female that would be transsexual. Now if this person is attracted to men they might appear to be homosexual to others but in actuality they would be a normal, heterosexual female. If the person were attracted to women they would be homosexual/lesbian - regardless of whether they had surgery to change their physical anatomy or not. A transsexual lesbian (woman born with male anatomy who likes other women) will still want surgery if at all possible. Who she likes and who she is are two separate issues. A transsexual wants to be loved and appreciated for who they are - not their anatomy. You ask "wouldn't that defeat the purpose?" - No, because the "purpose" is to be recognized and appreciated for who you are. If you are a woman and people treat you as if you are a man, or vice versa its a horribly empty and frustrating experience.

They're not homosexuals (necessarily). Sex changes are for people who's GENDER (what they feel like) does not match their SEX (what their parts / chromosomes are). This can happen to ANYONE, regardless of sexual orientation. It has nothing to do with gay or straight, so no it doesn't "defeat the purpose".

It is not only homosexuals that sex changes and for those who do dont feel comfortable being who they were born to be they feel they were born in the wrong body. And what fo u mean by purpose, there is no purpose to be gay u just are or u are not.

People who get sex changes are not homosexuals. By definition, a homosexual is simply someone who is attracted to a person of the opposite gender.
People who get sex changes don't do so because they like the opposite sex; they do so because they identify themselves as the opposite sex, despite the fact that their phenotype shows otherwise.

Are you stupid? Anyone who is gay/lesbian would not undergo sex reassignment surgery. Only transsexuals do that, after years of self hatred, years of therapy and years of self examination. I am so sick of having to share the earth with such stupid ignorant people like yourself.
Obviously, you are a person who would rather type a questions into this site than actually do research and discover the truth. Ignorance is bliss for you? Are you afraid to know the truth? Are you afraid to seek answers outside of the little box created by the idiots who created you. I guess the best part of you soaked into the bed sheets. Are your parents brother and sister? That would explain your stupidity.

Yeah, um ... I don't think homosexuals get sex changes, I think thats rather more along the lines of transgendered people. Like, it's not like transgenedered people consider themselves gay, it's that they consider themselves to be oppositethe sex they were physically born as. Like, in that new Lifetime movie "A Girl Like Me", Eddie/Gwen always knew he was a girl, it's just that he was born with male sex organs. Well, he didn't get a sex change really, e just changed his appearance to look more feminine, but you see what I mean? Gay men and women STAY men and women and are just content with being gay, but a transgender that gets a sex change is essentially, in their mind, straight, just that their genital parts don't match who they are inside.

Because you're mixing two different things. Transsexuals get sex changes. Gender and sexual preference are two seperate things. A transsexual is someone whos body is one sex and their mind is the other. They switch their body to match their mind. A transsexual can be bisexual, homosexual, strait, or pansexual.

Homosexuals don't get sex changes... they like who they are physically, it matches with their sense of self.
Sex Change is an identity issue, not a sexual orientation issue.

The two issues are completely separate. Example: A transgendered woman identifies as a gay male - she is still attracted to men, just trapped in the wrong physical form.
