It depends where you live.

Some places expect you to have a Blase` look to be "cool" if you are smiling it shows that you are not "in the know".

A lot of fashionable places like trendy bars, posh high schools, and art museums everyone has this cold haughty attitude like, "Psh-aah, This isn't nearly as nice as last years party." Or, I don't see what all those idiots are getting so excited about, it's not like we haven't seen diamonds before."

Even when it is something they might actually be excited about like a celebrity showing up, they don't want to seem like "lame" screaming groupies. They want to look sophisticated, like they are on the same level, so they play it cool by barely smiling.

When you smile alot in a group like this, it marks you are a clear outsider. They will underestimate you. They will have a prejudice that you are simple, or from the country. And that they are better because they are more "cosmopolitan"

I hope that helps explain a little.

As sad and cruel as it is, people do judge you on your looks, and TO much smiling just isn't what people want to see in other people. In the eyes of others, to much smiling makes a statment, and not the one that you want....... Hope That I helped!

Yes its possible. Sometimes smiling may make people think you are mocking at them or making fun of them. So one needs to keep that smiley face after judging the conversation correctly.

depends on what kind of smile you have. if it the one where your gums fully show there yes. if its one of those cute little girlie smiles then the only people it will draw away are the cranky ones everyone else will flock to you cause you are so darn cute.

Only if it's fake. No one likes it unless you mean it. If all the smiling is genuine, then it will attract other happy people. Don't worry about the people it pushes away, they are probalby negative and you don't want that around you anway! :)

Depends how intense your smiling is. Do you just look like you're in a pleasant mood, or do you have the look of Jack Nicholson in 'The Shining'?

At the begging you look silly , but for your health, smiling is one trigger for your immunity system, cardiac rhythm and refresh your muscles in your face, so it's OK, SMILE TO THE WORLD!
