If you weren't raped and you're not dying, it should be illegal to kill your kid.

It is selfish and wrong to do it any other way.

If you can't support your kid / don't want it, you shouldn't have opened your legs.

I thought moms taught this at age 12-14.

If it's their body their decision

they should DECIDE not to have sex with their BODY.

To the person who says the anti-abortion crowd are playing the role of god

Who are YOU to decide you're God of your baby? he is entitled to life just as you were.

KOO KOO, your nuts. I already said abortion is right if she got raped, learn to read.

And yes, all these little scenarios I would give different answers too, but these are the parts to be worked out by the law, not just say "ALL ABORTIONS ARE LEGAL". Some need to be illegal and some don't.

It is the woman's responsibility not to open her legs if she has these doubts and not the mans because..

uh...

she CARRIES the baby.

would be a good reason why

That brainwave pattern argument is retarded. YOU know it would grow up. it doesn't need to think first, if you didn't send in the doctor to crush it's head it would have grown into a person just like you. So murdering it 6 months before it starts thinking or whatever does NOT JUSTIFY the murder.

You have brought up a touchy subject. If you're looking for hard facts, you're not going to get them.

My opinion is yes. There are thousands of people in this country who are waiting to adopt babies. Those selfish enough to get an abortion rather than deal with the consequences of their actions are denying them that joy.

There are a few instances, I think, where abortion is acceptable:
- If the life of the mother is in danger
- If the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest
- If the child would be born with severe defects that would make them unlikely to survive
That's it. Abortion is not birth control. It is not correcting a mistake. It is the taking of a life due to selfishness.

Teach birth control in school. If it is left up to parents, it will either not be taught or be incomplete.

First of all, don't say "you shouldn't have opened your legs." Pregnancy is a consequence of sex, not a punishment (and men don't need to open their legs in order to have sex, and don't you think men have a major role in creating a pregnancy?).

Second, a fetus is a fetus is a fetus, regardless of the circumstances surrounding conception (be it rape or otherwise). You can't say "I think abortion is a moral act if you were raped, but not if you had sex willingly." It doesn't matter how a fetus was created-- it's there. The context of conception does not give or deny personhood. It's one or the other. Either a fetus has rights or it doesn't.

The reason why abortion is legal is simple: Women matter more than their pregnancies do under the law. The Constitution cannot grant rights and liberties to fetuses because 2 beings-- 2 "persons"-- cannot occupy the same body and have equal rights. One's rights will trump the other's. Therefore, a woman's rights are given before the fetus.

Now, if a woman wants to forgo her rights and carry to term, she certainly can, but she is ALLOWING something to gestate and come to full-term (hence, birth) that she created (and thus has the right to destroy prior to viability). She is CHOOSING to give up her physical freedom for the sake of a pregnancy, and while that may seem "noble" since we've been conditioned to think women need to be selfless beings and punished for "selfish" and sexual acts, a woman has the right to decide what grows in or is removed from her body. It's simple medical ethics. She and her rights come first-- not the other way around.

Well, I mean if a 13 year old gets pregnant she shouldn't have to go through the labor of child birth. I know it was her fault in the fisrt place, but like there are some things in life that kids that age aren't ready for, shouldn't have to go through until later. Plus some Mothers who have abortions don't have a choice, all the pressure from the father, her parents, her friends, what people will think of her once she has it? It's enough to make you choose Rash decisions. It's the mothers choice, the baby isn't born yet, it isn't developed yet, yes it's wrong, and very sad but its also nobodys business except the mothers and the familys, so people like you, and all the jack asses standing on the streets with "Don't Kill Your Baby" signs in hand should butt out. Since when is it your job to say whats right or wrong? Since when do you play God?

With the night after pill abortion across the land should be illegal. Why is it still going on? It can be purchased over the counter and taken the next morning. This bit of I can't decide is a bit of immaturity. If you are that immature what are you doing playing with fire? The only way that I could see for an abortion is if the mother is dying. Other than that there are to many precautions and that includes for rape victims.

Merely making abortions illegal won't stop them. Selfish or not that is the truth. The women that choose to have abortions are usually not forced to do so. Instead they choose to do so to avoid one problem or another. Those problems won't go away simply because abortion is made illegal. Instead you will see more women with induced miscarriages and illegal abortions.

It is possible to have abortions legal for anyone, but rarely done in society. The cost of achieving this is society has to be willing to raise every child with or without the mother. Conservatives would have to get off of the equally selfish and current "It's not my problem, so I shouldn't have to help" ladder they are currently on. Liberals would be happy to pay that price.

Abortion isn't a problem that will go away so easily. You have to fix society, not society's laws.

That's fine if you believe that for yourself, but it's also selfish to claim that you know what is best for other people.

There are a variety of reasons why people would have abortions. I'm sure it's not an easy decision for anyone. It's just not fair that you can claim in such a blanket statement that choosing to have an abortion is selfish.

I agree, if you don't feel that you are ready to have a child, there should be other forms of birth control available. Unfortunately, sometimes these fail, or sometimes those who think they are ready for a child find themselves in unforeseen circumstances.

Regardless of your beliefs, you do not get to decide for anyone else how they handle their reproductive rights.

Even in the case of rape, abortion is not justified. The child is innocent and does not deserve to be punished by death for the crime of her crime. Would we kill a two-year-old because her daddy was a rapist? If not, why is the child in the womb fair game? Also, abortion only increases the grief and trauma of a woman who has been raped. See:

first, come to terms with who's rights are you protecting. If it's the woman's rights then abortion should be legal across the board. If it's child, then it needs to be illegal under ALL circumstances. People that try to split the rights based on emotion or convenience are either diluted or playing double standards.
Maybe we need to set a medical definition of life and use that as a reference point. such as when a fetus is producing a unique brain wave pattern, they use that standard to say when life ends, is it not fitting that it should also establish when it starts?

If you think abortion is killing a baby then why would it be ok if the woman got raped. The baby did not rape her so how do you justify killing a innocent baby. Oh I get it , its only killing a baby when you say so. I don't normally say this but you people are nuts. As long as the murder is on your terms it all good right. KOO KOO, KOO KOO

I read yours read mine one more time. If you think abortion is murder then why would it matter if the women was raped. THINK ABOUT IT, WHAT DID THE BABY DO

OK look at it this way. Don't we have enough freaking psycho people in this world already? Why bring an unwanted child into the world if they are just going to end up having a shitty life anyway? If no one would have abortions, there would be WAY more thieves, robbers, homeless, etc. An unwanted child may be abused, neglected, or if the parent does drugs, the child may end up a chemical dependent or deformed or mentally challenged. I think people need to mind there own business.
