I see a lot of people DID NOT read the question properly or they think God, Jesus, the Holy Ghost and Moses are all fictional characters.
So much for reading comprehension.
The most powerful fictional character would be difficult to determine, because each has their own strengths and weaknesses. As you can see by the various (INTELLIGENT) answers, there are many opinions about who would be the greatest.
I do not believe you will ever get it down to ONE and ONLY one fictional character.
Who is the greatest in MY opinion? Hmmm....lessee...
It would have to be Superman. No one else has ever reversed the direction of Earth's rotation. That would take a pretty darn powerful and SUPER guy (OR girl).

It is hard for me to choose.
God The Lord Jesus Christ The Holy Spirit.
Moses was such a devoted person. I could watch The Ten Commandments over and over. It is a true story right out of the Bible.
Also Noah for the building of the Ark.
There are so many. I will stop here.

Hercule Poirot!!! From Agatha Christies books. He's the best detective there ever was in fiction history. Yes, better than Sherlock Holmes :-)

I gotta stick with E.T from the original movie E.T. Everything he did was so impressive that it is hard to choose. I guess the power he had in the pointer finger when it would light up was probably be the most outstanding thing!

Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird did the most difficult thing any person can do. He stuck to his virtues and beliefs no matter how difficult it made things for him; he never took the easy way out due to fear or laziness; and he did all these things because it was right. Not for the glory.

DUDES HAVE YOU READS NOTHING OF COMICS OVER THE YEARS ITS LOBO DUDE
If you've never heard of Lobo your too young to really answer this question,
Lobo destroyed his planet by being BORN, He got in a fight with Superman and let him live FOR FUN! when he died (now this is just fictional ok) he ripped the arms off that one asian goddess got sent to hell and then got KICKED OUT FOR ENJOYING IT!
Finally God (and I loved that comic because in it the real God (christian) was watching Lobo do all this to the others including Satan and laughing his head off) sent out a decree that do to the shere hassle of it Lobo's soul was no longer to leave his body.
Look him up dudes
