Croatia is pretty cool.
lots of vintage sailing boats that can easily be booked for 7 days or so. definitely makes you feel like a pirate.
would also recommend driving up the coast from south to the north.
great adventure to do on your own. pretty safe as far as travelling on your own goes too.

Please edit to tell us your starting point and what you consider adventursome. Just crossing West Virginia can be an adventure if you are doing it on a moped. So can flying to Disneyworld. Or going on a cruise. My Dad swears by cruises. But for a better time, tell us a little about you

you can go to europe, don't just go to the major cities go to the little towns or cities just to discover it. Or you can go to south america because they have many different cultures.
