I think they do that when they're excited or happy!
My niece had a guinea pig that squeaked when he knew he was about to get a carrot... also he did it when people were near his cage like he wanted attention.

well It means he wants you to stay and give more attention to him. Guinea Pigs are neat like that because they have affection for their owners too. I have a 3 year old periveian (long hair) guinea and she dose the same thing. I have trained her to lay down on her back so its easier to clip her nails and also she fallows me around. So your guinea pal is just wanting some more loven.

he's probably trying to get your attention or wants you to pet him more, guinea pigs and rabbits LOVE being pet, that's all they really ever want from you besides food and shelter
