long tradition.
my favorite is the southern poor during the civil war.
most of the poor fought, as the rich could buy thier way out. They fought becuase even though they were poor they were white and being white and preserving slavery made them better than somebody else....
it is pychological i feel, the poor feel empowered by association.

Most of the people that vote don't vote with their wallet they vote with their beliefs. When I vote for a guy I don't say how is this guy going to save me some bucks. I say how is this guy going to change the world for the better, how is this guy going to influence the world in a positive manner. I say guy but I mean women too. The thing that sets me apart from others is that I don't trust any of them so I do my research with a opened mind. I go with the lesser of the two evils which usually end up being a Democrat and I only expect them to do 50% of what they say they will. I find that Republicans only do about 20%. I am just rounding but from what I have seen in this Republican party of the 2000 error they have done less and all the stuff that they have done is going to hurt us in the future.

they make it sound good is all .IF you do not work for your self and punch a clock you need the rich to give you a job .
MOST of the jobs are useless .
I could do without the insurance industry and all its thiefs and liers.with rates at 500 a year you pay for it your self in the long run any how .why pay a middle man .OH yeah they made it a law to buy it .SO rich people would not have to pay if some poor slob dents thier bmw.
OR pay if the wind blows or a fire breaks out .FUNNY they make us all pay and they have the lowest rates .
THEY are not the victims of accidents like fires and storm damage .IF it were a percentage i would not mind so much but like always the rich pay less then the rest of america .
IT is probably because everyone dreams of being rich instead of doing something about it .

Don't fall for it. Those in Congress that tell you that are VERY rich -- usually lawyers that married money, inherited it, or fooled juries to get it. Most of them have no morals, ethics, or scruples.
It has nothing to do with Dems or Reps -- almost all of them are totally ignorant of economics regardless of party and raise taxes simply to increase their own power. Occasionally some accept bribes (which are illegal) but most exploit taxpayers (which is, unfortunately, legal). The latter do much more harm.
Every dollar they take from us makes us a bit poorer. Every dollar they take from companies is a dollar they can't hire employees with. Or just raises prices. Companies don't pay taxes -- they just collect them from consumers. In fact everybody pays everybody Else's taxes -- can't avoid it. Raise taxes higher on doctors and dentists because they're in a higher bracket than us -- guess where they get the money to pay them?
The more government takes from workers and businesses, the less competitive we are in the world market -- so jobs move offshore. The gov't and lawyers are ruining our health care system -- fewer citizens can afford it every year.
Who is hurt the most by the gov't raiding our economy? The working poor of course. The rich are the target, but it is always the poor who are hit.

you fairly have not got a lot hold close, do you? Ethanol farming has led to a extreme uptick interior the cost of meals. meaning undesirable persons are going to have much less good nutrition to consume and you talk approximately this a sturdy element. You show the disconnect between reality and the left wing. Republicans are no longer vote casting against their perfect hobbies. they're vote casting interior the perfect interest of all US voters, in spite of the nonsense that comes at them from throughout. i think of the actual question must be extra like "Why are left wingers so unconcerned with regard to the wear and tear they're doing to others with their time table?"

The poor can be easily swayed with the promise of "better times". Read history. No, not the history you were taught in school. That's a load of crap. Real history. Every time we change from Republican to Democrat or vice versa the poor think they will somehow benefit. Hasn't happend yet, has it? Don't think it will happen soon, either. Americans would rather believe their government and the media rather than think for themselves

How come the poor can force the rich to give them money without performing a service to deserve it?
Isn't that the definition of extortion? * "Extortion is a criminal offense, which occurs when a person obtains money or property from another through coercion or intimidation." The only difference is that the 'poor' use the government to threaten to put people in jail or take their property away because they didn't pay 'protection money', I mean taxes.

They put so called experts into our schools and pushed the PTA out of control. Since then the IQ has fallen. In the WWII generation they graduated from HS with an 11th grade reading level. Now college grads have 10th grade reading level.
The population was dumbed down on purpose. They then bombard the population with controlling systems. This starts with education in the schools, the media, print, Hollywood, gov propaganda and the list is even longer.
With dumbing down and constant bombardment the weak minded become susceptible to suggestion. They are easy to lead down whatever path the gov chooses!

ItThese billionaires own the corporations and sit on the boards of all the major media outlets. They control the message and they use fear to divide us, so many will vote against their own best interests. They embrace the uninformed, paranoid and gullible among us, and they call themselves and their minions Republicans. They are well funded, organized and unified around the basic emotions of fear and greed.
George Bush's chief advisor, Karl Rove, once said: "As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing."
Despite the fact that in the last century Democrats performed better on National Security and the Economy, Republicans have reversed the general perception. While Republicans won the invasion of Grenada, Democrats won WWI (Wilson), WWII (FDR/Truman) and Korea (Truman). While Republicans paid for economic performance with reckless deficit spending, Democrats created more jobs, increased the stock market and GNP while doing better at reducing deficit spending, balancing the budget, and still protecting the poor.

In the past, Republicans have used coded language like the "Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations," "Welfare Queens," and "Quotas" to mask their assault on social programs that protect the poor. Pleasant sounding lies like "Compassionate Conservative" and claiming to be a "Uniter not a Divider" were used to make the 2000 election close enough so the Santa Claus of the wealthy could be installed by the Supreme Court.
George W. Bush has used deceptive language like "No Child Left Behind" to dismantle funding for education in poor neighborhoods. He uses doubletalk like "Clear Skies" and "Healthy Forests Initiatives" to roll back pollution and logging restrictions. All to favor and maximize profits for super-rich Republican cronies.
Republicans cry "class warfare" when we point out what they do. Like a pick pocket complaining, you looked at his hands as he robbed you blind. When the news is bad they blame the "liberal media" even though they own the companies and sit on the boards that make the decisions that shape the news. If Al Gore had been president during the 9/11 attacks and had failed to act on the August 6, 2001 PDB: "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US" he would have been burned alive by the same Republican witch hunters that made national scandals out of Whitewater, Filegate, Travelgate and Troopergate.
Republicans wasted $45 million dollars on a four-year persecution that cleared Bill Clinton of all charges. They had to settle for a job favor for an intern, while Dick Cheney and Ken Lay were stealing billions from taxpayers, investors and employees of Halliburton and Enron by declaring false profits and receiving no-bid contracts from our government.
While Democrats are not without flaws, the Republican Party is the one pressing the agenda of the super-rich and powerful. While these may not be the original ideals of the party, they are a cancer that has taken over our government. Before you wince too hard, read the concerns of former presidents who wrote about the threat to our Democracy of corporate wealth and power.
"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country." - Thomas Jefferson 1816, (U.S. President 1801-09)
"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country... Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864 (U.S. President 1861-65)
"This is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people no longer. It is a government of corporations, by corporations, and for corporations." - Rutherford B. Hayes, 1876 (U.S. President 1877-81)
"Corporations, which should be the carefully restrained creatures of the law and the servants of the people, are fast becoming the people's masters." - Grover Cleveland, 1888 (U.S. President 1885-89 and 1892-96)
"The citizens of the United States must effectively control the mighty commercial forces which they have themselves called into being. There can be no effective control of corporations while their political activity remains. To put an end to it will be neither a short nor an easy task, but it can be done." - Theodore Roosevelt, 1910 (U.S. President 1901-09)
"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself." - Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1938 (U.S. President 1933-45)
And then it happened. The concerns of our former presidents came to pass while we were numb to the mutation of Jeffersonian democracy into a feudal plutocracy where only the very wealthy have reliable access to political power. There was no need for conspiracy, just the natural result of mutual self interest and greed, growing unchecked like mold on our society.
What use to be known as "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" is now called a "jobless recovery." Over the last 30 years, the poor and middle class have been squeezed tighter and tighter while the wealthy have become filthy rich. The richest 10% in the US now own over 70% of our total accumulated wealth. In 1970 there were 190 billionaires and now there are more than 3,100 billionaires while middle-class jobs are outsourced, work hours increase, income declines, and poverty has reached an all time high in our country.

they can't. the rich just have more influence on any situation than the poor. fight for change, organize, gather resources of many. you have to get in the system to make changes to it. life is not fair . it never will be. do what you can, or don't complain.
