I have a light switch in my house. the first one is for the light, but beside it, is a second switch. I flip it up, an nothing happens. I flip it down, and nothing happens. What's it for? What's it doin there?

It is most likely for a wall plug so you can
plug in a lamp or something into it and use the
lamp instead of the over-head light. Leave it off
and see which wall plug doesn't work by plugging
in something like a mixer. Then turn it on and see
if it works.

most offten it is to a plug outlet...either inside or out

it might not be connected to anything. a dead line.
