I had job experience in working in the IT field. Its just that its hard to find a job again. Is it worth it to get courses and certifications that would cost me a big loan to get a job in computers?

It depends on whether or not you've got a job lined up that you know you can land if you had that certification. Or at least, if you're in an area where that type of opening is a regular occurrence.

Something else you might want to try... forget about those expensive certifications and check out Brainbench. Their certifications are HARD (and thus have merit), many are FREE and the ones that aren't are usually around $50 US, and quite a few companies are now frequenting the site to find qualified employees, instead of just using the job history and diploma the way they do on Monster. Plus, Brainbench is aggressively pursuing companies to get them into the database, so it's like you've got a recruiter on your side.

I've got first-hand experience with this. I landed a job with a computer company over in Hackensack based solely on my results in the Delphi certification test.

Well, just my thought for the day. It certainly couldn't hurt to check out the free tests at least, before taking the leap to something drastic like getting a loan.

Then, along with studying for and taking the certifications (and BrainBench will typically recommend a suite of tests for a particular career choice), you can build up your resume and recent work history by taking on some contractual jobs on a website where buyers post jobs and programmers bid. It's kind of like eBay, and it will be a bit of work to break in and gain a reputation, but it is certainly a realistic goal.

I dont have any Certificates nor degrees, i just finished my college and started to work with IT companies 3 years ago.
and currently i am a IT manager and running my own business on the side as well (not to mention i am 24 years old).

so the bottom line is IT is the field of experience and skills. if you have what it takes to write codes, make networks, make applications then you are all set. all you have to do is show your proven work to your clients, have it online, let people see it and then go to the interviews with confidence.

I interviewd people with MCSE + A+ and Masters and so much other stuff but sometimes i just hire an candidate with a nice skillset i am looking for.

so the bottom line is Yes you can go for certifications if you think you cant really prove yourself by doing some proven work but i highly encourge you to study on your part time, learn new things and prove yourself.

Good Luck

A lot of IT jobs can be fairly low paying such as help desk and desktop services. Look into the different areas of IT and compare salaries and job vacancy rates.

Try to get a low interest loan for the courses and compare different colleges for tuition prices. Education is worth the expence if it can help you get a good job. I work in IT and meet a lot a people with IT degrees who want to get in IT and can not find a job. The trick is to specialise in an area where there is a need.

Don't go for a loan. If u have a computer of your own you can always learn some good technology Like J2EE or network programming in java on your own just buying good books. I can suggest you books on above two topics. Thats all.
