im not sure if this is what your looking for but heres the copyright and alittle info on the book and the prequel-sequel...
A book that has stood the test of time for upper elementary and middle school readers is The Cay by Theodore Taylor (copyright, 1969). It's the tale of an 11-year-old boy and a 70-plus West Indian sailor who are shipwrecked on a Caribbean island during World War II. There are lessons and implications aplenty as they struggle to survive, and the book ends with a number of questions unanswered.
Now we have the prequel-sequel, Timothy of the Cay (Harcourt Brace, 1993), which tells about the old man's life before the fateful meeting with the boy and about what happened to the boy after he was rescued from the tiny island. Your entire family will enjoy this adventure story.
