Go BACK to the courthouse. I assume you are going to the child enforcement department. Tell them you are not getting regular payments. They will set the matter for a court hearing, or convince your ex to allow them to garnish his wages (the judge can ORDER this, as well). But, be thankful you are at least getting something - there are millions of custodial parents - MOMS and DADS - who can't get a dime. Good Luck!

My father seems to be the same way. Next time your child visits him, tell him that he is late on it, but NEVER say that you REALLY need the money. This will make him feel like he's being used (as my father felt). Just a friendly reminder usually works. Keep it friendly. Also, how long have you been divorced? You may notice that your relationship will get better over the years. My father went from cursing my mother and step-daddy and vowing to never come into our house, to coming to our Christmas parties and sitting around and talking to my step-daddy, my family, and my step-daddy's family. It took him some years, though.
Just keep it friendly, and (if it's ever too late) it's not degrating in the least bit to shop at a discount store. I live in St. Louis, and almost everyone shops at discount grocery stores (such as Aldi's) because it is so cheap, and people save a lot of money. We regularly have MILLIONAIRES in that discount grocery store. Also, start putting the whole check in the bank, and only take out forty dollars at a time. If you use cash, you'll spend less (paper hurts more to spend than plastic). Save, save, save. You'll do fine.
I hope everything works out for you!

Don't rely on your son's father financialy! Find a job or jobs that support yourself and your son, and when you do get your child support, put it into an account under your son's name for future needs, like maybe college. If you continue to waste your time wondering and waiting for a check in the mail, you'll never be satisfied and you could use that time in a job that will pay you every week.

We live in Florida and my wife's ex-husband is constantly late. We have had to file the paperwork to have it taken directly from hsi paycheck. You can go this route, and I would suggest that you do so. Be warned however that it can take a while for the autodeduct to begin, then for the state depository to begin forwarding you the money. Other than this solution there is not a lot you can do to make him pay by a specific date. Hope this helps.
Just my 2 cents worth

I think you go back to court and keep on pushing them. Make sure that they realize how late your sons father is. Call and email your ex and tell him that if he doesn't pay on time that you will make sure the court knows.

Go back to your caseworker and find out what your rights are.
Another thing - a lot of states can arrange it where the $$$ is taken directly out of a persons paycheck before they ever see it. See if you can qualify for this program.

if you have filed something in court and they say that he can be 45 days late before he is really considered late, then I would think that there isn't anything that you could do. Sorry... Good Luck!

I would see if the court can garnish his wages. I know it's possible here in New Mexico. That way you get it on a regular basis.
