The Bassist is not only there for the sake of the listener's. He keeps the beat for the band.
But a bass guitar has more volume and resonance than a piano at those low levels, so it is preferable.

To sum it up..Good vibrations...the frequency of a bass guitar string, played well, has richer tones than can be produced by a keyboard synth bass, and a guitar's bass strings do not have enough character to handle the really deep bass notes. A bass can be very expressive as well. Check out what Victor Wooten can do with one.

There once was a band out of Boston called "Morphine" that was just bass, sax, and drums. They coined the phrase "low rock" for their music and was very effective.
Guitar player Charlie Hunter has a custom made 8 string guitar that the top 3 strings are bass. So he's his own bass player.

The Doors used the keyboard for the bass lines - however, the bass keeps the bottom beat and acts as a transistion from one chord pattern to the next. You can't walk a drum beat to the next chord.

If you could buy a book that could foretell the future thousands of years in advance, if you could buy the most popular book ever written, if you could buy a copy of the first book ever written, if you could buy a book that told you how to farm, how to have faith, how to live and not die, how to love and not hate, how to be healed and not be lame, wouldn't that not only be a book worth buying, but worth reading, studying and learning? You could also think of it as a picture album of the Son of God. The thing is if I showed you a picture album of my son and you were disinterested, I would stop showing you the pictures. That is the same way with the Word of God. If you are not interested, God will not show you the pictures of His son. Just getting through The Book to say you read it, will not impress Him. It will not please Him. Looking for His Son will please Him. And He will show you His Son.
