I don't think it's illegal but it would be stupid because all that extra weight would slow the car down on the passenger side... it's all about aerodynamics and down force and a second person would throw the handling off as well
185 miles is really fast to take any chances

To 'race', yeah, it's illegal in Nascar rules anyways, I would imagine! The cars they 'race' with do not have passenger seats! For promotional things, driving experiences, shows, etc., they do take on a passenger, but not to 'race'!

Well, they don't have a passenger seat. Yeah, they have one for Wally's World, but the cars that actually race don't have one. It's probably not allowed in the NASCAR rule book, and even if it was no race team would do it because the extra weight would slow the car down.

They will and have never raced with a person in the passenger side because there is no passenger seat.
The Richard Petty Driving Experience lets you go around a selected few tracks with an insructor so you can feel what it is like, and then if you are old enough, have a driver's license, and are mature enough, you can be the one driving.

Yes it is very illegal. The only time there is a passenger is because they give fans the chance to ride in a race car to see what it is like.

Okay....just to clear this up...there's NO passenger seat in a Nextel Cup racecar. They are built to do one thing..RACING. They're NOT the same cars you drive on the street.
There are a few exceptions, one of them is the Richard Petty Driving Experience. And Wally Dallenbach's car used on NBC/TNT race broadcasts!

Illegal to me means against the law.
It's not against the law.
There may a rule against it in the NASCAR rulebook but that doesn't mean it is against the law.
