Im a single female great career and want kids, I meet commitment phobic men (unless you count wanting to move in with me) Men seem to want you to look perfect all the time, have an immaculate house and want sex constantly too. However they cannot do any of the aformentioned. Emotionally they don't support a women in her career, it's usually up to the women to listen for hours. I am wondering should i be a single mum and have my nice lifestyle with occassional weekend baby sitting from the father so I can maintain my social life?? Deep down I know it's selfish but you men have brought it on yourself right. And that way I can miss having to constantly shave, wear a track suit if I fancy and look after myself and a child not them. I also don't have to worry if there having an affair or how they are feeling it's how I (and more importantly my child if i have one is feeling). Sorry shouldnt feel this way Any ideas??

I totally understand where your coming from. Men expect so much but give so little in return. Really, whats the advantage of women getting married ? I really dont see any other than a second paycheck to help pay for things. Otherwise we have to deal with so much sh*t just to have the guy in our lives. I guess its selfish to have a kid without the father being around but there is no guarantee that if you marry you wont get a divorce. I say go for it. Make your own path in life and have fun.

A rather stereotypical view of men. I may suggest putting together a small questionnaire of things you like and don't like, then during the first two dates, before any commitment can be made, ascertain if he would be the right match for you. As with women, all men are not created equal; there are good ones and bad ones. The greatest challenge in life is finding the one most compatible with you. A quest I've been on since 1985.

So are you saying you just want a kid hand it over to a nanny then pick it up when its about 16-18?

you sound like you would be a great mum!

A child needs a mum and a dad, dont be selfish and think "I have a good career blah blah blah so I need a kid to complete it" remember that it is another person that you could be screwing up by being an absent mother!

You sound like you can afford to have high standards.
You can wait for a worthwhile man.

However, 'listening' and things - men and women are psychologically different. Men are more 'do'ers, women are more 'relate'ers (amongst other things). Once you understand and accept the differences, it's easier to allow for them.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus explains it all well I think.

I wish I could find the men you're seeing. I hate kids and just want a partner, but all the men I find are baby-rabid nances who see no value in women except for their uterus.

Consider yourself lucky.

I'll take redundancy thanks and avoid you lot like the plague.
No more bloody decorating, DIY, moaning about what someone else has got, worrying about status image and having foreign holidays. Roll on bedsit land and divorce I say. I'd rather walk the lanes with a backpack than go through commitment again.

Anyway, good luck!
