How much RAM do you have. atleast 512mb is good.
What about your processor? A decent computer should have atleast a 2GHz processor.

Get an adware/spyware cleaner- http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

You also should defrag your hard drive- go to my computer, right click on C, go to properties, then go to tools, and choose defrag. also make sure you have atleast 5GB of free space on your hard drive. having less than this slows down prefromance.

also, go to start, then control panel, then system and preformance, then select system, then go to the advanced tab, and under preformance press settings. then click the "adjust for best preformance" button.

This takes more work than answering your question. Assuming that you use Microsoft Windows, the likely cause of your problem involves (1) Using an older version of Windows, like Windows 95, 98, or ME, which deteriorate over time and must be reinstalled; (2) Using Windows 2000 and later, including XP, which are susceptible to spyware and viruses that can cause slowdowns.

I recommend using some free programs that can rid your computer of commonly installed spyware (this happens if you use Internet Explorer to surf). Look for AdAware and SpyBot; these free applications, used together, can rid you of much of this. Also, if you haven't installed antivirus software on Windows, its a must. A free program is called AVG. All of this is available from a web search.

And if you run Windows XP, do install the Service Pack 2 update to gain updates to fight these attacks later.

Open your "My Computer" folder, click on the hard drive (usually C:). You should see a chart showing how much of the disk is unused. If it there is less than 25% unused you are probably suffering from disk slowdown. Deleting any unnecessary, and unused files should help. Aim to get back roughly 40% to 50% unused space.

You might need more memory. If thats not the case, try running a virus/trojan/spyware scan on your computer. Those kinda things are normally responsible for slowing down a computer 2nd to not having enough memory for todays new programs that require more memory and faster processing speed.

1. Remove some unused programs (games, etc . . . . ) that you do not use.
2. Defrag your hard disk
3. Add memory. Go to www.crucial.com or www.kingston.com and find out what type of memory your system uses.
4. Shop at www.pricegrabber.com for memory since it will look for the best price across many stores.

Good Luck!

Make sure you are not running low on hard drive space. Also use adaware and spybot to check for adware and spyware. These can really slow down a computer.

You might not have enough RAM. Open Task Manager and go to the Performance tab and check your available RAM...if it is a small percentage of your total physical RAM, buy some more.
