And you go to the hosiptal and do a police report and crap, wouldnt you just go ahead and get Plan B while you were at the hospital instead of waiting to see if you conceived? The rape theory does not hold up in the argument for abortion.

I am a rape survivor who conceived as a result of the rape. I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks.
I dont believe in having an abortion for ANY reason. If you dont want the baby..give it up for adoption. There are thousand of people who cant have children who would love to give a baby a good home. I understand the trauma of rape...but I dont understand killing an innocent human who did nothing wrong!

Emergency contraception should be offered to anyone under any situation--especially rape victims.

Those who say that 9 months isn't such a long time don't take into consideration the real trauma of being raped, getting pregnant from a rape, and being forced to have a child that may or may not be wanted. I find it sickening and completely misogynst to suggest that a woman be ripped open a second time for someone elses' personal moral quandry.

And emergency contraception does not cause an abortion, it prevents the egg from attaching to the wall of uterus.

Some people just can't wrap their minds around the fact the woman should have a choice in her life. You can't inflict the worst possible crime against her (it's worse than murder, as it's murder of the spirit which one has to live with all their life), and then strip her control of her body away from here a second time! The only time they respect you is if you're still in the womb.
It's sickening and inhumane.

Not everyone who is raped comes forward immediately to report the rape. Many people are ashamed and may even feel guilty for what happened to them. Some people take years to admit that they have been raped. Some women might not do anything if they have been raped; they won't go to the hospital, file a police report or anything. If she doesn't do these things, and she doesn't get Plan B, and she finds out she's pregnant, why couldn't she get that abortion?

Why is there an argument about abortion, rape or no rape?? Whats it got to do with anyone else what another person does in their private life?? I would not want a rapist baby, never, so I would abort. It certainly would have nothing whatsoever to do with anyone else! Any woman who chooses abortion,(means of contraception excluded) has a right to do so,the law allows her to,but its HER PRIVATE business no-one else's. It may not be to others ideals and religious beliefs, but that's their problem, not the person choosing abortion.
After such a traumatic event as rape,I doubt very much whether the victim would be in any way mentally to even think about "Plan B". Its easy to talk and speculate if the event has never happened to you.

Honestly, anybody who answers this question can only speculate about what they would do. Rape is such an emotionally intense crime that it is difficult for any woman to make that kind of decision if they've never been in the situation. There are so many factors to consider...how did the rape occur? Who was the rapist? What are your religious beliefs? The variables are so many that I can't even begin to say whether I would or would not do this. I would rather focus my energy on rape prevention and support groups for rape victims.

It would take some time for the pregnancy to show up in tests, but i am sure that going to a rape counselor would be the next step to take, if you or someone you know has been raped, by all means contact the police and go to a doctor or hospital...not only is pregnancy a by-product of the rape, but the chances of contracting a veneral disease is also a consideration..keep in mind that rape is a crime of opportunity and hatred, not one of sexual desire but control over another human being by a person who either isn't in control of themselves; is fundamentally lacking in self esteem and self worth or is an anti social deviant who needs control to boost their self worth. In other words they derive pleasure from the the ability to manipulate someone else, the shame and fear they instill and the (sic) control they feel they have. These are very sick people, and need to either be hospitalized or convicted and sent to prison. We need longer prison terms and harsher punishment for this crime, and alternative medical solutions to curb their desire to hurt..don't ever let the rapist get the upper hand, save your life, remember that you are NOT guilty of anything, and save your life again by getting immediate medical attention. Then the best way to get even with a rapist is to take back control of your life...good luck.

There is also a moral component. If you are raped, it is a crime. But if a child is conceived as a result, the child is still innocent. To kill the child is just as much a crime as the rape. It sucks that somebody assaulted you, but that does not give you the right to kill your innocent child.

People say it would be cruel to make a woman carry a child that resulted from rape. It may be unpleasant, but it only lasts 9 months. If somebody chopped off your arm, that lasts forever, but that does not give you the right to go home and murder your child. 2 wrongs do not make a right.

not all women go to the hospital or police station after being raped. please think before you speak (or write) next time. this is a very sensitive subject for a lot of people. if you honestly want to know something about something so serious, phrase it in a better way. ok? try that. as for abortion, who am i to say what a woman should or shouldn't do with her own body? it's her decision. whether or not i agree with it is irrelevant. i don't have to live with her decision - she does. if you're pro-life, that's fine but don't try to push your viewpoints down my throat. respect the fact that a woman has a right to do with her body as she chooses. although i don't think abortion should be used as a form of birth control, it's not my decision to make. not my business. not yours either

The thing it - depending upon how one views it - some legislators would make Plan B illegal. Even in these cases. That's why it is important that this whole issue be handled carefully. Some of the proposed laws would give under-age girls who are raped by relatives no recourse but to, potentially, give birth. The whole thing is very slippery, but I'm glad people are thinking about it.

The argument for a woman's right to choose has nothing to do with rape. It's about who will make decisions regarding control of her body. If I were raped, Yes, I would do everything possible to make certain I did not conceive NOT BECAUSE I WAS RAPED, BUT BECAUSE I CHOOSE TO NOT HAVE ANY CHILDREN. However, I do everything possible to make certain I do not conceive anyway, because I choose to be childless, rape or no rape. And no man, government, or third party can make that decision for me.
