Get almost-daily calls from 1-888-Services or 1-800-Services. Told them not to call anymore. Sometimes we don't even say anything, but just pick up and put down receiver again. They call in the a.m. and the p.m. Calling them back is no good, because those numbers are used by more than one organization so it's impossible to determine exactly who is calling. How to deal with this to end it once and for all? I believe it's illegal.

First, start by placing your number on the "do not call list." It can take up to 3 months to get registered but once you pass that 3 month mark, it is a federal offense for them to call you. If you advise them that you are on the "do not call list," they will apologize and hang up immediately. Write their name and organization down, as well as date and time. If they call you again, remind them you are on the list, inform them of their first offense and tell them you will be notifying authorities. At that time, you can file a report online and they will be contacted. The fine for this offense is $11,000.00, which goes to the government.

Your number stays on the registry for 5 years. I recommend listing your cell phone too.

In the meantime, tell them you are on the do not call registry anyway and you should get the same result. If they are nonprofit, they can still call you, but you can tell them to remove your name from their list and they do not have permission to sell it. It is not illegal for them to call back, but if they do again, you can contact the headquarters for that organization and advise that you will file a complaint with the authorities.

The weblink to the do not call registry is: https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

are you on the do not call list? if so then inform them of this next time they call and that you will take legal action against them, if not get on it quick.
you could always put my sister on with them, my sister once kept a telemarketer on the phone for a hour just leading him around in circles. it was hilarous, and they never called again

You can register yoursel with the National Do Not Call Registry, and you can tell telemarketers not to call you anymore, you are on this list and it's against the law for them to call you.

A couple of ways- first, the good way; tell them you want to be removed from their call list. They have to oblige by law, and if they don't, next time they call pretend you're interested, get the company info, then report them to the BBB or something.
What I do; I answer the phone in an obnoxious way, like "Jeb's roadkill Diner, you kill 'em, we cook 'em!" Or, "Josie's abortion clinic, you make 'em we scrape 'em!" (I don't like abortion so sorry if that's offensive but it gets them!) lol

1st) Get caller ID...You can see who's calling you before you answer.
2nd) register your phone number with your state and federal government's "Do Not Call List"
3) Then if they call you again, you can report them. It is illegal.

get one of those things for your phone that tele-zapper thing, I think they sell it a walgreens or walmart. It blocks auto dialed calls that are mostly used by telemarketers. Personally, if theyre # wont come up on caller ID,, , ,I dont answer.

I don't know, but I wish I knew, they call at all times of the day, last night they called at 9:00 pm I just pick it up and curse them out for waking up my kids.

I just talk to them in fake Japanese language... the telemarketer would be like "What? What's that? huh?" Rinse and repeat, and she hung up on me after a minute.

So try doing some languages, even if you don't know one.. Just make something up.. It's always fun.
