Hi. I too was a gymnast and I was almost 17 before I got my period! So you have nothing to worry about. Dont be concerned at all.

A lot of athletes dont start their periods until later. I am 17 now. I started mine when i was 13. It is normal to start between 11-17. If you dont start by 16-17 call ur doctor! Good Luck Hun!

It's alright you're perfectly normal! I didn't get mine until right before my 15th birthday so don't worry about it. I know a woman who didn't get hers until she was 22, the doctors gave her pills when she was 17 to make her have them but she got really sick and had to stop taking them and she got it naturally at 22 so don't worry. You're fine and normal, and enjoy it while it lasts.. because having your period sucks... once the excitement wears off, its pretty stinky.. lol.. well good luck and I hope i'ved helped.

God bless

i didn't even get mine till i was 14... so... no big deal. everyone is different. and, as you know, if you are underweight (like a lot of gymnasts are,) you won't get your period. I'd say just keep being healthy, and if you are really concerned, talk to your family doctor (or school nurse, or walk in clinic if you are nervous) about it.

Most gymnasts have very low body fat percentages. If your body fat percentage (that particular % escapes me right now), but I THINK it's 15%...you will not have your period. It has to do with hormones, blood count, and all that fun stuff. No worries.

I'm a guy, but I know that being involved in athletics can make your period irregular. If it persists, you might want to go see a gynecologist, but right now, I wouldn't be worried about it.
