Which bit of the door do you push/pull?

When i have to use a public toilet, as a walk up to the door i look for where people are unlikely to have pushed/pulled. this is to avoid getting their disgusting germs all over me, where they haven't bothered to wash their hands.

I recently found out i am not the only person doing this - luckily logic dictates that the same people doing this are like minded and therefore likely to be clean to!

I usually use a single digit to either push the top of te door, or pull the bottom corner of the handle! :-)

Are you fixated on doors today, or what? I usually use the coat /purse hook to open/close the door.Sorry to scare you, but the sink faucet control is where you're going to pick up the most germs! Not even the toilet seats are as filthy! Using a trick from my days as a nurse's aide, you just elbow the paper towel dispenser to dispense a paper towel, then use the paper towel to cover your hand and protect it from the faucet germs. Then, elbow again to dispense paper towels for hand drying. Thankfully more and more bathrooms are being equipped with auto dispensers!

Goin into the restroom, i could not care less, i wash my hands before i use the restroom.

Going out, if its a PUSH then i use my hip. If its a PULL, i grab an extra towel or two and use to grab the handle, then while the door is still open i fling the towel to the garbage (if its not right there by the door)

If it's a push, use your foot. If it's a pull, you really don't have a lot of choice, but I like your idea of pulling the bottom. Depending on what kind of handle it is, you could probably use a single digit in that situation as well.

I very rarely use public toilets as I find them terrifying.When I do have to, I wash the taps and my hands at the same time and usually leave my hands a bit wet ,open the door using as little amount of my hands as possible.

Oh brother - people such as yourself will have no resistance to disease when you really need it.I'm not advocating not taking sensible precautions but contact any contact anywhere in that sort of situation has the same effect (millions of germs).Lets hope that all you like minded people are using the same public toilet but even this presents problems doesn't it.

I usually push with my foot or use the tip of my little finger to pull.

If your really concerned then put a piece of toilet paper over your hand while you use the door.

Carry a hankie or tissues with you and discard them when you finished by flushing them down the loo. Kick the door or use your butt. I dont touch the buttons of lifts with my hands either. Do you know how many people touch these?

if it pulls open from the inside, i use a paper towel, hold the door with my foot, and throw the towel in the trash(its usually just inside the door), but it looks funny. if it pushes open from the inside, i use an elbow. you are not the only one.

After washing your hands, keep the paper towel and use it to open the door.
