Minorities are not the only people to receive benefits. In some parts of the country, many white American receive assistance for food, shelter, education and medical service. The person's skin color is not a determining factor. What is evaluated is the person's current life style. He is unemployed? Does he need medical help? Should he and his family receive food stamps? (etc.etc).
Applications ask you to identify your race because you are dealing with a government agency - and they preparer statistical reports that reflect age groups, male/female, race etc. It is just to keep a track record of who got what - an no that isn't racist.

Now days it seems like the government has a more racists actions towards white people. It is much easier for someone of color/race to get maybe financial help for school, benefits, even jobs then it is for a white person.
I receive money for simply being Korean, how racists against those that don't that is that.
Someday when people learn not to pass judgment on someone for their color, black, white, asian, would be the day that we can throw out racial discrimination and affermative action.

. It's all racist-- but that's how the Democrats get their votes, steal from the middle class and give it to the poor by fees, taxes, and welfare programs-- as long as the Government has you ( as in skin color or race ) in their debt you will vote for them so you can keep getting the money from those programs, thus stealing from the middle class and besides the rich do not pay. The United States ( the people ) was once a proud hard working entity now its just free programs and greed -- JMO

I totally agree.
After 40 years, affirmative action has already given advantages to two generations. Now, it creates disparities that discriminates against whites. Like all government programs, politicians will support it to win votes.
Now, it weakens our nation and punishes white people just for being white. A girl that was half Hispanic/half Asian got a scholarship because of this. She is my daughter's best friend but my daughter is white, smarter and better in every way but stands no chance. What can I tell her about the fairness of our country. It creates resentment against organizations like the NAACP that is just full of white people haters.
Let each race stand on its own. Racism will always be with us and is a fact of life. But, as a white male, I get no special treatment and work hard for what I have. You can always tell a black town in America. The yards are messy, people sitting out on front porches doing nothing, increased drug activity. I say to them to get off your butts, off of welfare and take an example from the leaders of your race...not the politicians but the ones who work hard to succeed.

oh, god. you know, the conversation on affirmative action, 'preferential treatment,' et al. will never end, because the public tends to base its con/pro arguments on fallacies. the numbers are readily available at government web sites to show who benefits from 'quotas.' the argument shouldn't be about who gets it and blacks vs. whites. the real question is WHY was it even instituted. Its predecessor was created in the 20th century to aid military workers who couldn't get work. however, it was the unfair labor practices (that still exist) that required its application to racial matters. so, for numbers' sake, the largest beneficiary of 'affirmative/eoe action' comprises 29-35-year-old white single mothers. is that racist? the reason race remains such an issue is because politicians know they can ignite that dormant klansman in us all who cries foul without really knowing all the details. the same people and companies who encourage you to oppose affirmative action and migrant workers are the same people/companies who hire them because they know they can pay less in wages. yes, it still happens. women and non-white/non-male workers still earn 80 percent or less of what an equally employed/capable white male earns. whether you think it's good or bad, it just is. but, yes, anything that ties a person's race to his/her ability to perform a job, get a home or succeed scholastically is racist against that person, and it's unfair for others who probably don't consider themselves part of a privileged class. but, i assure you, you come out apartment-hunting with me in california (or in any red state), and i'll show you why race will always be a factor in this country.

I could not agree more. Affirmative action was an admission by the NAACP that Blacks didn't measure up and needed extra help, that they could not do it on their own. I think that you should earn what you have, regardless of race, religion, skin color, gender or whatever. I also think that there should be equal pay for equal work. IN other words, no one should get extra help or be put down for their race, religion, skin color, gender, etc.

Its racist if they dont benefit from this policy. Its not racist if they do. Thats called affirmitive action. Thanks libs!
If they are treated as everyone else then is it called reaffirmitive action? Like, They got fired from a job for a blatant mistake that cost the company millions of dollars . Is that racism or not?
How about if a white person gets fired for that? If the boss was black?

yea i guess cuz its implying that the minorities are too poor or aren't smart enough to pay for it on their own so they need help from the government.
