I've been on diets most of my life, and its funny that the dieticians change their advice so often.

Carbs are usually the bad guys. Stick to whole wheat when you must have bread, and avoid any processed white flour stuff.

Water is essential. 32 ounces a day minimum, 64 if you are trying to lose weight. Pop doesn't count! (Human bodies are terrible about telling you that you're thirsty, so don't forget to drink!)

Speaking of pop, avoid it. The regular stuff has corn syrup and thats bad stuff. The diet stuff has aspartame, and thats even worse!

Veggies of course, but V8 is an acceptable alternative.

Good stuff that usually help me: milk, cheese, boiled eggs, chicken.

Smart snacks: Those 100 calorie nabisco cookie packs. Good stuff and basically guilt free.

You WILL cheat, don't worry, just keep drinking that water and keep active. I doubt you have a weight problem and probably won't ever. Try not to worry about being thin. Its bullsh*t. Most people don't consider the thin ideal to be especially attractive and isn't obtainable for most of us anyway.

Ya, stay away from a lot of salty foods. Make sure you eat friuts and veggies with every meal. (except you can leave out the veggies for breakfast!!) Bananas and carrots are good for your skin also. The recommended amount of meat you have each day is the size of your fist. That is not much at all between 3 meals. Of course we all go over our recommended proportions, and that is why so many americans are overweight. Mainly just watch your proportions, exercise, don't starve yourself and don't overdo it! Get involved in a good diet and exercise program if your weight is serious. Before doing anything you need to do some research about what you should be eating and how much exercise is right for you! Check out this website. It will tell you how much food is right for you each day!! Look on the very right side of the page and fill out your age, sex, and the amount of exercise you get each day. Then go from there!!! http://www.mypyramid.gov/

Lots of fruits and veggies, some uncooked so you get all their vitamins and minerals out of them. Every noonhour I eat a cold chicken sandwich, no mayo, only a scant amount of butter or I eat a bowl of rice with bacon bits in it. Suppers are usually one cup of pasta or potatoes / fish / chicken and my night time snack is 2 cups popcorn (no butter, or salt). During the day I drink 8 water and 2 milks everyday. Also during the day I snack on wheat thin crackers if I can't make it to my next meal.

Main thing is to up your daily intake of water, and do NOT use salt (think of it as the devil's food or something....lol) on anything. That's about all I did and I've lost 47 to date and only have another 15 to go to my old weight when I graduated.

Look on the internet or talk to you doctor. You should never go on a diet before you talk to your health care professional first.
