The answer comes from DEEP THOUGHT, the biggest, most powerful computer ever devised in the entire galaxy. It was designed to compute the answer to the question of " what is the meaning of life, the universe and everything"? After many millenia in deep cogitation, he pronounced that the answer was 42, much to the consternation of the 20 oddish generation of computer minders. These minders then commisioned the building of an even bigger computer to ask the correct question to get the right answer, this computer being called - Earth. Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

No, no, no people often get confused. 42 is not the answer to the meaning of life. Is the answer to: The ultimate question of life, the universe and everything... we just don't know what the question is.

because it's not 41 or 43.. Just kidding...

Well, the meaning of life is 42 because at 42, you seem to have learned a lot and accept that you've grown old...

It's kind of an oversimplification--42 is the answer to the ultimate question, which people tend to assume is "What is the meaning of life." The point is, it's finding out *the question* that matters. :D

It's the answer that the super computer came up with in Douglas Adams "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" series. Adams was a genius so the answer must be right.
