Now this is what I would do?

I would add more ram if I had an open slot myself but if I had to total put ram in myself. I would put all of my documents and photos and things I wanted on Discs and then take the old ram and reformat your C: drive and then take it out and put in the maxium amont of ram you wanted put on and then clean install the OS and all up date.

With $2500 you could avoid all of this and buy a new one for awhole less at Dell or HP.

Just check out dell.com or hp.com and see what is in your budget range and what you want.

especially a lot the only issues upgradable on a working laptop or pc are RAM and not situation-free diskchronic. as long as a results of fact the cdchronic has known connection and variety, it may too now and back. The video card, community card, and sound enjoying cards are all integrated onto the motherboard and there are no longer any extra ports for including no longer situation-free drives (on maximum laptops. some help twin drives, so which you will upload one). To the guy above, All laptops have a distinctive shrink to how a lot RAM they are in a position to assist. And no laptops interior the international different than 2 or 3 fanatic fashions from some years in the past help switchable photos enjoying cards. this is attainable to enhance the processor, yet you fairly would desire to comprehend what you're doing. additionally, each pc has a custom made motherboard in basic terms for that variety kinfolk. as an occasion, the HP dv66xx series included many fashions with distinctive motherboards, however a similar nicely suited physique, so the forums may be switched out in basic terms between dv66xx fashions.

It is possible to upgrade a PC laptop with more RAM. It may not be easy to do depening on your model, but the Dell I have has an easy access panel for the ram, and the laptop I had before (an ancient Compaq) wasn't very difficult either.

For the extra credit, I would have to do quite a bit of pricing, but you can get yourself a top of the line laptop or a very good tablet (not sure on the prices of these).

I definately recommend, unless you are going for media editing, going with a PC however. They are (somewhat) easier to mod and can run almost any OS (a must for a programmer like myself).

Many modern laptops have an access panel on the bottom that allows users to add RAM themselves, but some older models require disassembling the machine to add RAM. If you have a newer laptop with the access panel, it's a piece of cake to DIY. Otherwise, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a shop. If you don't know what you're doing, you can screw up your laptop bigtime trying to take it apart.

It is entirely possible to replace RAM and processor in a laptop...it's just a little bit harder than a desktop. If you don't feel comfortable, then don't.

Yes, you can easily upgrade your RAM. You can purchase some at almost any electronics store (Frys, Best Buy, etc.) and your manual (or the laptop maker's website) should show you how to install it.
