I want to keep the birdfeeder and the other birds, but the pidgeons are gross and poop everywhere. Is there a way to keep the feeder, but get rid of just the pidgeons?

The answer is in the type of birdfeeder. A Metal feeder mounted on a pole that has settings by weight. I keep it set so only the small birds can feed. If pigeons or crows, etc. land on the feeder, it automatically closes the seed source due to the weight. If you just have open hole feeders its fair game for any fair weathered friend... I think I found this at the Audobon society website but local hardware or nurserys also carry them.
Hope this helps :)

The type of seed you're using is what attracts the type of birds you're getting Pigeons will NOT eat thistle seeds so if you only use thistle seeds they will go away. You might want to take all the feed out for a day or two, just to clear the area and then start over new with thistle seed. It should be available at almost anywhere you're buying regular bird seed. This has worked everywhere I've had the same problem. Best of luck!

This is a quick fix. You put the bird feeder in a box with a small hole just for small birds and put the box on a pole 6 feet high or hung from a tree.

get a big plastic owl....or make one as a scarecrow...stopp feeding the other birds for a while....clean up the place...wash out the bird poop and get ready.....watch what happens.....no birds will come if you have the owls out...fill the feeders....take the owls away...watch the birds come back........owls dont bother all birds.....there is a type called a pidgeon hawk...get a pic of one off internet....get a piece of wood and carve one os long as its close in size and shape.....paint it colors as close to possible......my grandfather used to mix barn paint so the color was dull brown....put white spots on it ...and put them on a fence on a tree....or ...a perch......i'd watch the birds fly'n in and then turn awayand leave....try it recordv the results...with different shapes and sizes colors....a big 3 foot blue green monsterbird....might not scare the small songsters at all because they're faster small and don't recognize it....but they may scare pidgeons.....see how it goes......if you make the right one yr in buisness and can start a buisness

We had the same problem we just stopped putting food out for the birds. This time of the year, now that the seeds/berries are ripening, birds generally shouldn't have a problem finding food naturally.

remove the food for a week.......pigeons r very smart birds....every time u see one land in that area make some kind of noise like banging 2 pots together to scare them away.......they will soon put that area and scary noise together and stop coming around......
