Sorry if the above question seems like a generalization. While hanging around with my white friends, they seem to have less of a problem with "sassing" their parents than black, asian, or latino young people do. I'm always amazed when my white friends feel like they have the "right" to call their parents awful names, and then just laugh it off. Their parents don't do anything about it! They maybe get a little huffy, but laugh too! One of my friends called her mom a "stupid b**ch", and her mom just thought it was the funniest thing in the world! If I, or one of my "minority" friends were to treat our parents like this, we would, at the least, not be able to sit down for a month!
Is this a cultural thing?
(again, sorry if it looks like I'm stereotyping. This is just something I've observed.)

usually White parents are more lenient while other races are more disiciplined. not to be a stereotype or anything, but the cultures are so diverse. in most asian countries teachers are allowed to discipline the students in physical terms

It's FAR more likely for minorities kids and their parents to be abusive toward each other.....that's a stupid thing to say Panacea...Studies show that Latinos and African Americans have more stable households and less abuse towards each other than whites... Whites are more lenient on their Kids, Latinos and Blacks are raised showing respect to elders and others. In my whole life I have never seen a Latino or black disrespect their own family especially their mothers. Maybe the stereotype is right whites show less respect to their own parents due to the lack SPANKINGS from the parents...studies also show white families often end up falling apart....though not all white families are like this.

Its a dicipline thing. Im white and would never get away with that type of behavior. If the parents command respect from their kids they will get it. If they let the kids walk all ove rthem , well than thats what will happen. I find it hard to respect anyone who can talk to their parents like that. If they treat their family that way how do they treat just their friends?

Yes I know what you mean. I think that whites tend to give their children everything they want and spoil them rotten and black people actually correct their children and do not give them everything they want. I have worked with white people and some of them say they give their children everything they want and actually brag about it. But then they talk about how their kids talk to them and they think they are the run of the show. But at the same time not correcting your children means you really do not love them. It is these kinds of kids that have emotional problems and depression as they grow older. So I hope this helps and this is my observance on this subject.

I dont think is a cultural thing, you can stereotype a whole race based in your circle of friends.

I have seen people of different cultures beat their children in public places, and i have also seen some children (again different culture) go wild and run and start cursing, so again its not a cultural thing but its about education. How parents educate their children.
