Do you remember the U.S.S. Cole?

hey hichef - who was in power when the Cole happened? Did Bin aLaden have as much power then as he did at 9/11? nope. Maybe if Clinton had actually followed up on something, thousands of more people would not have had to die. God Bless!

Bin Laden also said that when he saw the U.S. pull out of Somalia, he knew he could win if he just stood up to us. I think... yeah Clinton was in office then.

And of course the liberals and the dem's make excuses and redirect , but hey , that's what good little robot parrots do , Yes , we are , those people in the Twin Towers that died so horribly , all of those port authority officers that are no longer with us , the FDNY and NYPD men and women that now have fatherless and motherless children and widowed husbands and wives , the people that died in Penn and at the Pentagon , are all dead because of the direct inaction's of the chickenshit president that we had in office

No to your first question, since Clinton did respond, although not very effectively, to bin Laden, but to quote CIA ops officer Lindsay Moran, the only thing that al-Qaeda and Iraq had in common was the letter "Q". We got into the war in Iraq for other reasons. The Bush Administration made a feeble effort to tie the invasion of Iraq to the GWOT, to preempt any criticism that the invasion would be a distraction and a diversion of resources from the GWOT. Which, of course, everyone now realizes, it is, let alone the fact that tying down all our national instruments of power in Iraq means that we've let everything else drift: we're impotent to do anything about North Korea or Iran, never mind that we've lost much of our influence in Latin America, and now all those countries down there are lining up behind Venezuela. And nobody's even paying attention to what's happening in the Ukraine now.

Yes, we all remember the Cole tragedy.

As far as Somalia, let's do remember that was a fiasco he inherited from the reign of George the First. Rangers and Delta were on the ground in Mogadishu, and already the op had shifted from humanitarian to something more akin to what we'd call "peace enforcement" today, before Clinton was even sworn in.

Well...

You have been watching too much Fox News

We are at war only because Bush asked and Congress agreed

The attacks of 9-11 happened because of many reasons and many peoples actions.

As much as I dislike Bush, I cannot blame him, and I cannot be satisfied by Clinton's actions, or lack thereof.

Books are the only way to get historical fact, and even then, varied sources are important. (The earlier answer is a great example)

Make sure that you know the whole truth before make that assumption.

Did you know that REAGAN AND BUSH gave money, arms, and training to Bin Laden and his boys in the 80's. That's why we have Bin Laden.

Also George Bush never read the Presidential Daily Brief which said "Bin Laden Determined to Attack U.S".

Plus we are at war because Bush and Cheney are oil guys. They looked at that Iraqi oil and just had to have it.

Cheney's halliburton oil company got a multi-million dollar no bid contract to grab that oil and other stuff. The Carlyle Group which Bush and Cheney (and the Bin Ladens) have investments in also received a multi-million dollar contract.

Did you know that the CIA visited bin Laden in the hospital weeks before 9/11?

If we knew what Bin Laden was up to then when Clinton was in office, then Bush has no excuse as to why he didn't do anything either.

Not directly but it did have an impact especially leading up to 9/11. It's hard to say if only we did. Clinton was a pussy about it like most liberals.

No, it is because of the the pull out and weakness we have showed from Vietnam to now. Our government refuses to win a confrontation. We can win every time if we would give clear and decisive orders and plans. If we are going to end terrorism, end it!

No, we're at war because Bush, Cheney and the rest of the idiots running our country decided that invading Iraq was a good idea. They are after oil, pure and simple.
