Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is all too much fuss over the stuffed animal that Elvis once loved??? lol That man paid the equivalent of $75,000.00 for a teddybear because it belonged to Elvis?? And now all he's left with is a decapitated pile of stuffing! omg - if I had that kind of money . . . What's next? auctioning off Elvis' underwear? Locks of hair, etc? Sheesh, come on folks - time for a reality check here - enough is enough!!

First thing, this is just in jest, I'm not seriously upset - I was poking light fun because I know how serious folks get about Elvis! I was unaware that many other bears were destroyed - the story didn't mention that, did it? There are some really great answers on this - thanks to everyone for sharing a giggle with me & for enlightening me, as well!!!

Yes. The elvis bear debate is a much more impressive topic. I guess I will stick to asking moronic questions such as these.

Its not just the "Elvis" bear thats the issue. The dog destroyed HUNDREDS of teddy bears in a display that chronilized what is perhaps the greatest toy ever. I mean, c'mon, who didn't have a teddy bear of some kind growing up. Some of those bears were almost 100 years old.
Yes, I think paying $75K for a bear just becasue it belonged to Elvis is a bit much, but it was an investment that he had "on loan" to the museum. wouldn't you be upset if you loaned something precious to you to someone or someplace and it was destroyed?

If people are willing to spend money on a danish that looks like Jesus, they will spend money for anything.

Regardless, the man valued the Elvis Teddy Bear. What the hell was the museum thinking about having those bears out where people (or dogs) could actually get ahold of them. I hope he and the other Teddy Bear owners hold that museum severly accountable.

I agree. As long as no one hurts the dog, I think the whole thing is hilarious.

I know what would happen if I left one of my dogs alone in a room full of stuffed animals! In fact, I've seen it. Stuffing and plastic eyeballs everywhere! Oh the carnage! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. What's next? Assigning the poor dog to guard a room full of steaks?

LOL

Edit:
I'm still giggling. Can you imagine how much FUN that was to that dog? A guard dog like that probably doesn't get to experience much real doggie FUN. Good for him!

Couldn't agree more! Yes, I know it's the "King" and all, but really... I just couldn't find it in myself to pay that for anything like that. I would much rather give the money to a family that lost their home in the Katrina hurricane or to cancer research or something and when donating...Donate it in honor of Elvis or something... just makes more sense to me. Oh well, all I know is that I'm not rich, so these rich ppl must be way smarter than me. If this is what they choose to do with their money... I don't think I want to be smart. lol

Yea! lol I saw that online too! I feel bad for the editor or Yahoo who couldn't find a better discussion topic than a dead guys teddy bear who got torn up by a dog. I mean, my dog tears up my stuff all the time! How come the world doesn't get to know about that?

This story made me laugh when I saw it for the first time. It is surreal. In a world on the brink of war, it is good to have a laugh every once in a while.

What idiot pays that much for a bear? What idiot leaves them with a doberman? If this happened in a movie or on tv (I could see Kramer & George involved), we'd say this kind of stuff never happens in real life.

They have probably already sold his underwear and locks of hair.

People are willing to pay big money for all kinds of celebrity memorabilia and stuff a lot more bizarre than Teddy Bears or locks of hair have been sold.

Awe last time I checked "Teddybear" was two separate words! Maybe someone should learn to spell. ;)

Oh and to answer the question, everything is a mess if a famous person owned a certain piece of memorabilia!
