The Shining is a great horror movie, with a memorable performance by Jack Nicholson.
Its not a bloody as the horror stuff (although theres a couple of killings seen) - but it is very suspenseful. The movie does a great job of building up tension - you dont have to shock people to frighten them.
Give the movie a try - you'll have a great time.

You'll enjoy it! It's definately a horro classic. It's one of the best adapted Stephen King books, and of course Jack Nicholson is in it. You can't really go wrong with that. It has it's scary moments, there are a few times I jumped (which is not normal for me), but if you are a horror flick fan, it's a must see.

Watched that movie late the other night on TV...it's great. I'd buy the DVD, myself. I love all of Jack Nicholsens' films....his old ones, too. Like "One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and so many others.

It's very creepy, and a very good movie, if you like Stanley Kubrick's style. The thing is, though, a lot of it is subtle, psychological horror, instead of a series of things that make you jump. That's what I like about it. Also, it takes its sweet time progressing, which I also like.

Are you referring to the original with Jack Nicolson or the made for TV remake? Personally, I prefer the remake since it was closer to the book.
Enjoy!
