I love the South---the culture, weather, people (most of them, anyway.) It's just a great place to live, with a couple of exceptions, which I'll get to.

My TOP picks: Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, western North Carolina, west and middle Tennessee

Not my top picks but still great places: the rest of NC and TN, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas (west of Little Rock,) and Oklahoma.

Here are my exceptions:
-Kentucky: that place has the sourest people I've EVER seen in my life. Try making bets that very few people (especially women) will even say "thank you" when you hold a door open for them...I bet you'll win.
-Florida: same reasons, but it does have lot of jobs. It's kind of boring after you hit all the tourist attractions, however.
-Virginia: too rushed, b/c it's the southern end of the Megalopolis.

West Virginia doesn't count as South, no offense to anybody who lives there.

sunflower lizard: I've lived throughout KY, including Louisville. No offense, but Louisville was the worst place I've EVER lived anywhere in the country b/c the people were so rude. I know I've probably stepped on your toes, but it's not Southern like they claim to be.

Ok, first of all, you can go to any state and hardly anyone says thank you for holding a door open, so its not jurst in KY. I loive in Louisville, Kentucky. What part of the state did you go to? Yes there are a lot of people that think they are to good, but that is in every state.

*NEWS FLASH PEOPLE* Arizona is not a part of the south! lol ! Virginia is a part of the south it is just under the mason dixon line. Sorry to burst any one's bubble.

I love North Carolina and South Carolina. I was born in SC but I now live in SC. I don't like certain parts of Florida like Daytona Beach. A lot of the people I encountered there were not friendly at all. I Love Tennessee, especially Memphis! Mississippi is OK there is just not a whole lot to do when you're there. Alabama is a nice place. It's very laid back. Arkansas is also a nice state. Georgia is great! I love the ATL!!

Never been down South....My ancestors ran North you know.
I here it is a great place to visit but I would have to consider if I want to live there. How do you say,,, fear of the Big House rising up again. I read the food is great Louisiana the Gumbo and the Seafood and the spices... The open fields and the water close to Being Virginia or Georgia or Miami Florida because I have a few people down there. The idea would be to ge close to them But I really want New York.

My favorite places in the south are Texas b/c it has awsome night clubs. Arkansas b/c thats where I live. The Carolinas and Tennessee b/c they are gorgeous to visit.

I hate Alabama b/c I got a speeding ticket there on my way to another place I hate Florida. Florida is nice to visit but not live in to many tourist people and to me that would get sooooo annoying. Although Disney is fun.

Umm I cant really think of any others that I like or dislike but if I do I will add them~

Hey, I live in Florida!
but you're right. People are kinda less than hospitable. It could be because so many old people from the north move down for the winter (by the way, NONE of them can drive) and in the summer, all the cool places are packed with tourists. [sigh] I still love the Atlantic beaches and would never move anywhere inland. Try seeing some of the natural things. I recently went snokling in the reef at Key West (Google fort jefferson, dry tortugas). It was amazing. The tourist traps in Key West can be a bit of a drag, but a day out there makes it completely worth it.

Hey kikass, i go to the warren willis methodist camp every summer in leesburg(well technically, it's outside city limits, but it's purty close)

Arizona (except for Tucson and Phoenix), most of New Mexico, northern Arkansas, Virginia, South Carolina, Delaware (not the cities). Parts of Texas are beautiful (but I would never live there). Would never live in any part of Florida, Oklahoma or Louisiana.

Top Pick: North Carolina
Reason: Because it is always beautiful and has different kinds of weather.

Bottom Pick: Georgia or Florida
Reason: Georgia because there is not a whole lot to do, but it is still a pretty nice state in some places. And Florida because I have lived here my whole life and now there is not much left to do.
