Well you have to be really good at suspense to get published where as with romance those get churned out by the truckload if my library is any indication of what sells so I imagine if you want the easy route try for romance. I don't read romance and I've only read a few of the very best suspense novels. Though you could try doing both romance and suspense together. Combined plots are usually more interesting because they have more going on you just have to work it right.

Why not both. Write two books.
Try to write a Suspense novel that incorporates romance. Or write a Romance novel that incorporates a lot of suspense. Versatility is key here. Write it so that suspense readers will be intrigued, yet romantic enough for the romance readers will also be drawn in.

Writers do not choose the genre. The genre chooses them.
Writers write because an idea for a story and/or a character inspires them so much they have to put it down on paper. No other motivation is going to be enough to carry a writer through the long and arduous process of writing a novel.
Categorizing the writer's work comes after it's produced, not before, and it is not always the author's choice. An extremely successful romance writer I know once complained to me that she did not believe her work belonged in that genre. (But, hell, her books were making way more money than mine.)
Write what you're inspired to write and the answer to your question will present itself. If you're not inspired to write anything in particular, well, you can be certain you won't be producing a novel anytime soon.
