I am allergic to cat(saliva, pelt and dander) but not mice, guinea pigs, hamsters or rats. I haven't had a gerbil. I am allergic to rabbit hair and danders, though. My gp's were short haired. So was my rabbit. If you are not asthmatic..I am mildly so....you may be able to tolerate a rodent. Check with your allergist or doctor regarding this. I always had good luck with rats and gp's! Rats are my favorite! Keep with short haired pets as you may be sensitive to the pelt (hair or fur). Good luck!

They might be allergic to cat saliva,
which has different enzymes in it that trigger reactions.
You really have to test for each separately-
my husband is allergic to anything with hair all over its body.
No problem with elephants...

no longer unavoidably, they have diverse fur kinds, mites and so on. many times the stuff that motives the hypersensitive reactions. Cats reason better hypersensitive reactions than dogs and pregnant women human beings/newborns are instructed to be saved faraway from cats better than from dogs. dogs are an proprietors accountability, they are regularly bathed and groomed at will, cats on the different hand groom themselves and hardly like a bathtub, so as which could properly be one better reason cats carry better allergic cloth.

Each must be tested separately, but can be tested at the same time, usually.
