Where else are the gonna go? Besides, people make tons of online "friends" that they like to talk to and feel comfortable talking to because that person does not really know them therefore what they talk to that person about stays between the two of them. That could be a possible reason.

Not for comfort. People mostly go to the computer for various reasons like work, time-pass, entertainment, etc.

Its always the best to get an opinion of someone outside the situation, who doesnt personally know you or the other person, or people involved. Also you sometimes find someone in the exact same predicament, or who has been.
