What face wash is good for oily and acne prone skin? Are there any less expensive ones and what do you recommend?

Just use regular soap and water. It's been working for me for years and years.

Well, I find that using normal soap for my acne (which i profess is quite bad) serves only to irritate and aggrevate the acne while excessively drying out my skin. The only face wash I can recommend that you can use on a regular basis for cleansing purposes and is actually recommended for acne: Is 'Clearasil' - its no miracle face wash, but it has helped me. And it is not very expensive, in pounds atleast around 4 to 5.

It is a 3 in 1 Face Wash and is micro-bead based so it works deep into the skin where regular soap does not go to unclog pores and also kill the bacteria responsible for acne. It doesn't dry out your skin either, and excessive drying caused by soaps can also cause the sebacious glands to release more oil to compensate making your acne worse.

Alot of people seem to be swearing by proactive as a miracle worker, even though I have never tried it. I just might do.

I've had problems with acne starting in my 20's. For the past 10 to 15 years I've tried everything under the sun. I've tried ProActive, Neutragena, Clearasil, every over the counter brand. Nothing ever worked. I finally tried a line from Beauticontrol called "All Clear" that worked. My husband who tried two rounds of the prescription, Accutane ( but that didn't work), uses it too. He loves it.

It's $59.50 for the set. Everything but the Toner or Skin Solution lasts about four to five months depending on whether you use it once or twice a day. The toner will last about two months, maybe three.

This set is for moderate to severe acne. If you have very light acne then it will dry out your face and I would just use the cleanser and spot treatment called "outta sight" blemish clearing complex. You don't need the whole set.

I have a full sheet on helpful hints to help control acne and i have an instruction sheet on how to modify the "all clear" set to make it suit your needs.

If you go to my webpage and then find the section on how to make a living, there is a place to contact me directly.

I can e-mail you the info and answer any other questions you have. I send a 25% rebate for out of town clients when they order on-line. Or you can go to Beauticontrol.com to find a consultant near you to work with. It is an outstanding product. If you use it faithfully for four weeks atleast every night before bed, you will see very good results. ( You may need to cut out the toner once in awhile if you get too dry, but otherwise it's great)

Proactiv is the best thing I have ever tried. While it is expensive it is very affective and If you have really bad acne I would try that. If you dont want to spend the money just wash with Dial antibacterial soap every day at least. Wash with the hottest water you can stand and rinse with the coldest water you can stand. Drinking lots of water will also help to reduce oil, and eating healthy and not smoking will also reduce acne.

Ponds is a good brand. Look for water based products, those are healthier for the skin. For acne control, I use proactiv once a day. And now my skin has cleared up so much, I only use it every few days. The reason why I had acne was because I was always touching my face and scratching scars and pimples. But when it cleared up I didn't need to worry about scracthing, there's nothing to scratch!

I have oily skin too and I use proactive. It is a little bit on the expensive side, but it is worth it. But another less expensive brand I used before proactive. Is St. Ives. It really did work well and its only a few bucks. I used the apricot scrub and then the apricot radiance. Good luck.

good ole fashion Sea Breeze and cotton ball/tissue. I keep it on my vanity and use it every night and morning. Also what is good and inexpensive to open your pours before or after washing is to get a big bowl of HOT water and put a towel over your head with your face near the water for between 10-15 mins. You'll love the fresh feeling smooth skin!

Clearasil Ultra works for me; but it depends on your type of skin. Clean and Clear Acne Wash is good too

I like Neutrogena face scrub - the other ones tend to over-dry my face. But everyone is different. If your skin is really oily, Oxy will probably work well.
